On Thursday, November 19, the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee will consider House Bill 40.

HB40, sponsored by State Representative Scott Perry (R-92), would permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their homes and any places outside of their home where they have a legal right to be. It is clearly stated that there would be no “duty to retreat” from an attacker, allowing law-abiding citizens to stand their ground to protect themselves and their family. HB40 would also protect individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker’s family when force is used.

Perhaps a friendly nudge to your representatives is in order. I've already contacted and received a response from mine who fully supports this bill.

I emailed all of them and said "I urge you to pass this common sense legislation, which protects law-abiding citizens from further assaults upon them by the criminals through the court system."

Right-on Barb.
Self-defense should be transparent. That is it needs to be clear to everyone that you and I have a god given right to defend ourselves.
Without the ‘castle defense” now in place in Florida, there was a fear that some prosecutor would decide that your first duty was to retreat. When you are threatened with deadly force, you do not have time to worry about what the next “hell-bent-for-reelection” prosecutor will decide.

I only HOPE!

I live long enough to see it proposed, much less passed in my state!
Go get 'em Pennsylvania!

I sent emails to the appropriate people.. i always get a response from one, usually nothing from anybody else..
