I was going through my storage unit and found some "old stock" from my days of selling at gun shows. There was a box containing several little red boxes containing new (very) old stock Pachmayr grip adaptors. There were some boxes labeled as fitting

"Perfected Model .22 single shot
Regulation Police .32-.38
Regulation Police Target .32
Target.22, .32"

Applying logic here, they will obviously not actually work with any of the Target (2 screw) or Regulation Police, but should work well with any of the pre War "Standard" Grips, whether hard rubber or wood, as found on hand ejectors and most especially the legendary Terriers. Post War they should fit the transitional and Improved I frames and probably even the Baby Chiefs Special. If there is any interest I'll dust off a few and list them on the For Sale Accessories to "share the wealth". Here's a picture of the adaptor. I tried to add a couple of the box, but it seems the forum won't let me put in but one picture at a time today(?)

Pachmayr grip adapters

I remember that address on Grand Ave in DT Los Angeles. It had the largest wood framed glass door which I thought was strange for a firearms centered business. It was a neat place inside with glass topped gun displays, gunsmiths working and employees helping you with your needs. I looked around but did not buy anything. I was a college student with minimal funds. I believe that Liebenberg(?) was a smith at that time I have no idea what is there now. The building is gone. Sad

I also remember zone numbers; the initial set of ZIP codes just added three preceding digits to existing zones, so Zone 15 in LA became Zip 90015 on July 1, 1963.

Pachmayr is long gone from 1220, and the number doesn't even exist anymore on a distinct structure. The even-numbered side of the 1200 block of S. Grand Ave. is now just one huge nine- or 10-storey building with a single address that seems to offer retail and office space at street level, and residential units above.

I remember picking up some boxed grip adapters several years ago, possibly also Pachmayrs. I will have to go on a search for them.

Well, I seem to have hit a speed bump in this discovery of "lost treasure". The adaptor I show in the picture was placed on my faithful 1950 vintage Transition I frame Hand Ejector and it hangs down about a sixteenth of an inch below the butt! Of course the adaptors themselves are unmarked, and I bought this bunch many years ago in some sort of bulk deal and at the time never tried to match them to the guns they were supposed to fit. Looks like it will be a while for me to sit down and match a box full of them against known guns. Stay tuned as the treasure hunt continues.
