The kit gun

As to kit guns, I have a 4" High Standard Sentinal in 22 lr, a 5 1/2" Ruger Single Six Mag in 32 H&R, and recently bought a Model 31 and had it's chamber extended to 32 mag. For me, as a caster the 32 mag is about the same velocity from a 4" bbl as a 22 lr, has a 100 gr bullet and depending on primer costs runs very close to the same price or less as 22 lr.

It's funny the guns people try to talk me out of at the range the most are the model 63 and the 31-1. The K22 is the runner up. No one ever tries to talk me out of a Glock.

A while back, I got a SB 63 4" when they were first introduced. Currently have access to a RB 34 4". The grips that work for me, with my size 10 hands, is the factory S&W smooth banana grip. Just big enough to fit me well. I tried factory checkered target grips, rubber boot grips, Tyler adapters on stock magna's and so on; none really a fit. The rest of the story is to practice, practice, and practice some more with the pistol. It is a not easy to master revolver.

A Mod 17 or 18 is easier to master and is a true understudy for K's in centerfire. Many holster fits available for both too.

I prefer the combat stocks on my 4" J frames. Purchased them when they were available new in blister packs at you local gun shop for a reasonable price. Turns out to be a great investment considering today's prices. From the top, you see a model 63, a 651, and a 631.

I remember Ellett Brothers offering the 631 at close out prices…hindsight 🙃
