I acquired a collection of firearms a few years back, amongst the stuff were a few handgun boxes, which did not match any of the firearms in the rest of the estate. This is a maroon box only, nothing else, in structurally decent shape, but has splotches of white paint on the top of the lid, certainly not a presentation case, but if the owner of the revolver happens to be a member here, I'd like to work something out and reunite the original box with the revolver. I think the SN puts it in the early 40s. I'd love to post a pic, but am currently having issues with the home pc signal - couldn't even post my entry to the patina thread. Thanks, Bill in MA

Any chance you pinned down when yours was made? Just interested on when this may have been made. I have a 4 screw, "pre-10" same grip style and bbl length as the box, in about the same condition as the box too, but it's a later C series SN. The revolver was given to me a few months ago, which prompted me to search for the box that I had stashed away with other stuff. It would be pretty cool to pair up the revolver and box after 80+ yrs! I acquired the box almost 15 yrs ago, outside of the Boston area. No idea if the original owner travelled around at all, so if the revolver is out there, it could be anywhere. Bill in MA

I have my M&P listed as a 1946 dated revolver. I can't remember if it's from the book or from the M&P Guru on this Forum.

If the serial number is S83098#, it is probably from June, 1946. Without the S prefix, it would be from before the U.S. got involved in WWII (1940ish).
