Absolutely wonderful find! To a J-hound like myself, I would dislocate my elbow going for my wallet to buy them. Other folks can more sagely digress on the variations, but one looks like an original 637 on the original J-frame with the standard cylinder latch. The second seems to be built on the 'J-magnum' frame, a smidge longer frame and cylinder and with the newer latch.

More importantly, both do not have the accursed IL, the internal lock that about 101% of us despise. I know little about retail or collector value of such guns, but I would pay a tidy sum for the pair. As I said above, I'm a J-hound.

Very nice guns! I'm as much a 38 hound as a J hound I guess but those are NICE! I wouldn't say they're priceless but, still, excellent little guns. Well done!

Thanks guys, I know they are not priceless I was just joking about that. But I was very excited to get them.

So they are J frame right? I am considering different grips for them. I like the wood grips with the metal piece in the front to make the grip bigger. Where is a good place to find those?

Thanks again

Good luck with the Tyler T-Grip adapter. Getting them new from the company seems to be a problem these days. They can be found on eBay sometimes but can be pricey. You might want to check out BK Grips--the owner is a member here.

Those are two very nice guns!

Be advised the Boot Grips already installed on your J-frame guns duplicate the fit and feel of what you seem to want: the standard Magna grips with a grip adapter. Unless you absolutely have to have the woods+adapter, you're set up to shoot right now.

Surprised I was the only poster to mention the happy lack of the IL on your guns. Amongst Forum posters, the internal lock is perhaps the most hated object on the planet. And they're right.

And your guns ARE priceless. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Good shooting!

The 37 should be a blued gun,Someone has bead blasted the gun and left the steel and aluminum raw.I would be sure and wipe the cylinder and barrel down with gun oil frequently as raw steel rusts quickly.

Fantastic, especially the 37-2, since it uses the smaller frame and cylinder (and looks nicer, to my eyes). The pre-lock alloy J-frames already have collector's value and are highly sought.

bead blasted the gun

WOW now that is interesting. I had no idea about that. Thanks for that information and for all the replies here guys. So how does bead blasting change the value if at all? I would assume since it is not original then it would come down some??? But hey what do I know:D
Yeh I guess my grips are already larger than the frame, maybe I do just need some wood grips at least on one of them.

So glad I posted here. Anything else yall can tell me no matter how minor. I know almost nothing about these or any S&W revolvers but have been trying to learn all I can.

I did know about the lock because of reading it here on the forum, and have passed on a few that I have come across that have it. I have my eye on a model 66 357 with a snub nose barrel

Thanks again

this is an old thread I know, but in my constant desire for information I have learned me something.

My 37-2 is not bead blasted as suggested by 05carbondzr but actually a brushed Nickel finish as indicated in the first three letters of the SN BRN829x The BRN stands for brushed nickel:)

This might be common knowledge to most here, but I have been searching for the best way to protect my "Bead blasted" finish on my 37-2 ever since it was suggested that I do so.

Anyway, I have since added to my j frame collection with a 36 no dash that has been Cerakoted grey, a mod 60 no dash, and a 34-1 nickel square but...

I cant decide what is next:D

Sweet revolvers!

Like they say, "Two is one, one is none..."
