Panic in Year Zero

Went to Shooter's in the morning, then went to Barnes and Noble I bought the new American Handgunner and a double movie with Panic in Year zero and the Last man on earth.

I was watching Panic and it is set in 1959 with Ray Milland and Frankie Avalon, so far the bombe went off and they have stopped at a hardware store to buy some firearms, they end up with a rifle, Shotgun and a handgun all for $225.00 The best line so far is from the hardware guy, he tells them to buy the .45 (1911) because it is made of magnesium so it points better. It is a good movie with a plot so I will finish it after supper.

It is strange that I can remember a segment of a movie that I must of watched before I was six years old, but can't remember when I set my sun glasses down yesterday. My buddy found them in the fridge, I must of put them down while I was getting a coke out!!

The movie had a significant impact on me. Like Peyton, the first time I saw it I must have been 6 or so. It showed me that we would survive a nuclear war, that family was the most important thing, that independence and preparation will help you survive, that you never shoot someone unless you absolutely have to, and that it may take a while but things will be OK. Good show!

It's a fun watch. Look for the Savage/Stevens Model 24 over and under in the hands of one of the townspeople at the roadblock, and what Frankie Avalon is doing with his free hand when his character lights his father's cigarette in the car.

"Last Man on Earth" is also a fun watch. I think it's the best of the three screen adaptations of the book.
