Para Ordnance P-14

Would like information on a Para Ordnance P-14 .45acp Pistol.
A Model 1911 type pistol with 14 round magazine is interesting.
I understand the company is no longer in business but how is the craftmanship compared to other manufacturers ?

Lousy

They left a lot to be desired, frankly

The Entreprise Arms P500 is a double stack 1911 in 45ACP. And yes, it is 'Entreprise', not 'Enterprise'.

I bought my P-14 in the early 90's. Installed an adj. overtravel trigger and full length guide rod. NEVER had a problem with it after many range sessions. Gave my daughter a P-12 which she uses in training her, now 19 year old son. Never a problem with that one either. My P-14 is now my night stand gun and I have full faith in it. Bought a factory custom long slide made for my son's squadron, the 75 FS (A-10's). I didn't shoot it but he did. He said it ran fine.

For the most part quality was excellent. When the company started getting batted around by different owners, it started to suffer. The guns, and frames, made in Canada are all excellent. Magazines are available as well.

That's pretty much my experience. I once owned a few Canadian guns that were great. Later quality started slipping. At one time I remember Remington purchased Para and we all know what happened to Remington.

I had a P14. Sold it when cash challenged. Carried it as a duty weapon for a while. The mags were not very good, and the frame cracked for the new buyer. Pass on it - there are better platforms out there. I have no personal familiarity, but have heard good stuff about the BUL models

Frankly, in a double stack .45, the G21 is a far better value. I was issued one and beat the hell out of it when I first got it. The only real problem with Glocks is that if you go to a state with a magazine capacity limit, the 10 round mags are a no go - Glock is very insistent that they not be used for serious purposes.

Canadian P-14 Limited. It doesn't get used much, is accurate, deep barrel rifling, heavy when fully loaded, large grip and one batch of mags were suspect.
