Part 2 Please tell me why this model 19 and 44 sold for so much

Wow,,,,,,,this gun I wanted , but not this bad. And it was the same person that had the Combat Magnum in the Presentation case that sold for 3500. Both guns were gorgeous and certainly what any collector would like. Ok , so comments on these, I would like to hear,,,,,,I already have some more thoughts. I also have the other Pre 19 combat Maggie from the same sellar below.

The description: "44 magnum dates 56-58 serial # 1610xx very good condition" tells most of it; they only first made them in 1956.

And the photo says the rest; the whole package and rare case is there, including "Coke" grips and 99% of the original finish; however wrong SAT (screwdriver).

Same reason on the 19 but with correct SAT.

This one shipped the first year sn# 1664xx and most likely that one did also. The value of a first year 44 mag in unfired mint condition with original case and tools should be around 4500.00.No telling if its the original case on the auction. I don't think there were enough good pictures of the 44 to pop at the 4,000.00 price it sold for.

Any gun, at any time, is worth exactly what a buyer is willing to pay at the time a seller is willing to sell; no more, no less.

You can often learn more about the general perception of a gun's worth in the broad market by keeping track of the ones that don't sell at a high price and ignoring the ones that do.

I saw that the SAT was wrong, but what is the deal with the cleaning rod? I see a lot of S&W type cleaning rods with attachments ( loops for patches, jags). There were not attachments like that were there.

The only attachments were a brush and mop. The jag show is not S&W.

I am weeping with joy right now having read this. Economists have known since 1873 that value is subjective. Prices are set by supply and demand, period, but almost no one really believes this.
