Going to work next week for a couple of days a week at a pawn shop, working the gun counter. I hope I can at least break even on the deal.;)

I went in today to discuss the hours, etc. with the manager and spent a few hours behind the counter. I found out that I am woefully ignorant about the new stuff, particularly EBRs, glops, etc. I believe I can eventually learn my way around. Meanwhile, even though I can't dazzle them with my brilliance, I can certainly baffle them with my BS. I am looking forward to it. I start Monday.

The shop is a fairly upscale place in north Macon, GA. It has been open about a month.

I will probably carry a Kimber Pro Carry owb and a Model 60 in my pocket. Even though it is the "good" side of town, MaConGa can be a sketchy place anywhere in the city limits.

Have a good friend that owns a pawn shop. I worked there Saturdays for about a year. Learned a lot about the pawn process and the junk that some people bring in. Then you get the guys with a $100 gun that want $1000 for it.

The worst part is the paperwork.

I really enjoyed it.

You'll be shocked by the number of times a day you get swept by gun muzzles.... sometimes loaded ones. Ignorance of the safty rules was for me, the worst part of dealing with the retail gun buying / selling public.

A year or so back, one of the shops I frequent was short handed, and asked me if I wanted to work for a couple of months. I thought about it, and even asked if I could take my pay in guns...but the owner said that employees couldn't buy a new gun until it had been in the shop for 90 days (unless they want to pay full retail) or used guns period before 90 days, so I figured it would just be frustrating more than fun. I'd probably see one of my dream used guns come in during my no-buy period. ;)

This is great news. When can I come by and use my 50% off buddy discount? Be sure and keep the good stuff in the back till I get there.
