I've looked for a decent forum (ala this one) for issues with my John Deere rider with little success. I've got the Big Box Deere, not the real one. An LA105.

I've got a pretty bad wheel alignment problem resulting in me buying new front tires at 100 hours. Sitting in the driver's seat I see \ ||| /

These riders come with fixed drag links from the factory. I've found that there are adjustable drag links available so I'm looking for recommendations on a trusted site for ordering them. Prices seem to vary quite a bit but it looks like I should be paying about $40-50 for a new pair of adjustable drag links.

Anyone have a favorite source for parts????

I just go to the deere store and pick my parts up. You can research their parts breakdown on the internet and get your pricing.
I even bought a Scotts made by Deere and can get parts there from them also.

John Deere - Parts Catalog

If your looking for the best price you will have to do the research. The auction site has used parts where you may save money. If you really want to save money you could try to heat the rod and bend it until it straightens the wheels.

I used to buy gasoline tools from the big box stores but no more. First off-in spite of what they say, the big box tools are built to a price point and are NOT the same as those sold in specialty stores. Plus I have found out that nobody will work on big box mowers, trimmers etc. when they break and they WILL break. I replaced my Lowes Honda Mower with a Honda mower from a Honda shop and bought a Stihl from the John Deere dealer. The extra $ paid is worth it when you get individualized set up and service. When my trimmer goes out, I'll buy a Stihl as well.

Thanks for the responses, good info. I've got access to all the parts catalogs and such. I'm a cautious on-line buyer and am looking for someone to point me to sites they've used and trust. Also looking for a forum on the topic that others have found useful.

Thanks!

The John Deere products bought at the Big Box stores are different than the ones sold by the John Deere Dealer. The bearings in the Big Box sold John Deere items will have bronze sleeve bearings in the wheels while the John Deere models sold by the dealer will have ball or needle bearing in the wheels. These design short-cuts are the reason why the products are so much cheaper at the Big Box stores and have all of the problems.

Ya, I knew that going in. That's why I noted it in my original post. I'm just looking for a good trustworthy source for parts to fix my wheel alignment. You know, the midway, midsouth, brownells, ... of the lawn mower world :)

I had narrowed it down to the two below and will research the suggestions given in this thread!!! BTW - Jack's doesn't carry these parts and I'd been to the GreenPartsStore but they are twice the price!!!!

I have a John Deere GT-235 lawn/garden tractor that I bought in 1998. It still has the original battery! When/if it ever dies...I'm going to a John Deere dealer and buying the exact same battery.

I bought my FIRST brand new push mower around 4 years ago. The rear wheel brackets were one bolt and two tabs. Guess what they broke not just one BOTH of them. Couldn't find them locally. Found a place on the net. ereplacementparts .com or something like that. Ordered both brackets. Not bad priced and fairly quick to ship out. So I would try them for parts.
