Am in the process of looking for the next "project" gun and have decided it will likely be a Model 10. Specifically looking for something mechanically ok but with finish issues on the better side to a total parts gun. (ie: no collector value/cheap). In snooping, I found several parts kits for the Model 10 priced starting at 0 with no reserve.
Got me thinking as I've delt a bit with AK kit guns etc.
Parts in most kits with exception of the side plate appear easily obtained new thru several sources.
Begs the question. Are there Model 10 frames out there?
Would it be at all economical?

In one word, "NO."

Because the gun frame is the part that carries the serial number, it's possession and transfer has to be within Federal and State regulations. I can no imagine why anyone would sell a complete revolver at a bargain price unless it had serious issues or was "hot".

The big difference between building an M10 "kit" gun and an AK style "kit" is that fabricating the sheet steel receiver is within the capability of a hobbyist craftsman. A revolver frame is not. Even a well-equipped machine shop would not likely have the resources to make a revolver frame.

In my limited experience, the available parts "kits" from police confiscations are useful mainly for the individual components that can be reused to repair or complete another gun. The frames, of course, were destroyed in compliance with local laws.

Thank you for the prompt answer. It is exactly what I thought. With new parts available it made no sense.
The other guys have no available new parts supply and could use a "parts kit".
