I just heard today of the passing of Bill Davis, the noted revolver gunsmith, in early April of this year - the information came via a third party from his former co-worker and shooting teammate Jerry Eason. Those who have one of his PPC or "Smolt" revolvers know what a gem of a gunsmith he was; those of us who knew him remember him as a fine gentleman with a vast knowledge of pistolsmithing.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew him and I have two revolvers that he built for me, one is my PPC revolver that I shot and competed with for years. And a Smolt which I have posted photo's on here before. His builds were considered the " gold standard" by a lot of PPC competitors, and I include myself in that group. He was one of the best.

Sad, another mark on the calendar of life. He was a fine gunsmith.
Built a beautiful PPC revolver for me on a model 10. His work was top shelf.

Sad to hear of another great gunsmith that is gone. His work was well respected. The guns with his name on it were very accurate and some had a lot of work done to make them look good. Larry

I just heard this news today. Very sad. My father and Bill were good friends in the late-70/early-80s. I even spent a week one summer when I was a teen living at his house and working in his Sacramento shop.

RIP, Bill. You were a hell of an interesting guy.

What a great guy, was very generous to young shooters, years ago at least to me. Sold me a grade 3b for all I had in my pockets about 250, in 1982. What sweet, friendly , jokester, guy Bill was..
Was 2 man PPC team champion in 1982 with Jerry Eason. Thanks Bill!!!
