I have a set of pre-war grip adapters for a K-Frame which I just received from a fellow member. They are pictured here on the left next to a set for the N-Frame. You can clearly see the difference in size on the 'shelves' next to the round buttons. They both have the same patent number.

I have seen pictures of different patent items and they usually have many drawings with all the dimensions listed. These obviously have a few dimensions that are different. So how could they get by with using the same patent number on two different dimensioned items?

Just something I wanted to share that I thought was interesting.

The patent is for the uniqueness of the design as a way to adapt the grip. Not the actual dimensions. A lot of design features are the same between a K and N frame, just sized differently for the given frame yet the same patent covers it whether a K or an N
