Picked this up today for $700 OTD, taking advangtage of a birthday discount and 2nd Amendment tax free holiday. When I first saw the listing I did some research and found about an equal number of outstanding/excellent reviewes and "meh" reviews. It's the kind of quirky thing that appeals to me, so thought I'd give it a shot.

It would be close to LNIB if not for the (relatively) mild idiot scratch, which doesn't show up well in the pic. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that used 1911s without an idiot scratch are like hen's teeth.

DKP02xx serial number dates to 2005.

Any thoughts are welcomed.

My buddy had one with the same DK prefix
he was excited when we met Doug Konig at the 2011 Symposium.

I like the look of them, always been a sucker for a two tone. I definitely don't like the look of a flat trigger on a 1911 so I would swap that out.

If you search these forums you will find that they made two different Doug Koenig marked guns around the same time and in other discussions, my name will appear and I do not compare this one favorably up against the Performance Center .38 Super pistols.

That's much more about the elite guns that true PC pistols are and less about what this one is not. For $700, I would also have snatched this one up.

Nice score ! I just got a DK 1911-2 38Super that I'm picking up Monday . Anyone have any idea how many 45's and 38Supers were made ?

I still have my DK1911 that i had as an S&W rep almost 20 years ago.
It shot extremely well and had been used by many folks on range days.
It was a standard production gun. sold my PC1911 45 sample and kept the DK.
The DK1911 38 super was a PC gun only and i recall the superb accuracy of that gun with a smile.
Doug is one the "many" that S&W let get away and most are working for that other gun company-one is the president!

SilverstateS&W , were you there for the golden era of the PC guns ? That must have been a dream job , company rep for S&W . Did they let you buy guns straight from the factory . If I was in that position I'd probably be living in my car , I wouldn't get a pay check , I'd end up paying them .

To me, a two tone gun screams "I'm made for action. Take me out and shoot me... a lot!". A lot of features you see on "upgraded" guns are just affectations, but a stainless or plated lower is functional to resist handling wear. And it works in real life. I like it!

I bought one of those pistols in new condition with its aluminum case and paperwork sometime back. You're going to love yours!

I tried to find out the production numbers back then but wasn't successful partially, I think, because there were multiple versions made - different front and rear sights and triggers, as I've found so far.

The 38 is the real deal from the now defunct Performance Center using EGW parts.

The 45 was just a standard production gun akin to the SW1911 with different styling and a flat trigger, basically made to sell guns. Nothing special about it, just has the name.

I've got the PC 38 Super model. Great pistol.

Yours is identical to mine but I have seen ones with S&W rear sights instead of Wilson Combat, curved triggers instead of flat and fiber optic front sights instead of a Patridge. I for a long time assumed there were two production runs but the SCoSW doesn't mention a second run and others have suggested that they just used was was on hand when each gun was manufactured.

Regardless, I don't think you can buy a nicer 1911.
