Found a Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman in one of my regular pawn shops today. It looks like it was bought new, never carried or fired, but indifferently stored in a holster so there are a few rust spots. It locks up as tight as any S&W I have ever held, has original Magna stocks (matching numbers) and should make a great shooter. The S292xxx serial number makes it 1967 or '68.

For $350 out the door in 2021 I'll accept a few rust spots.

Thanks all. This particular shop has been a happy hunting ground on my regular route for a few years. In the last 3 years or so stopping in there, in addition to the M28, I have bought a 3" Model 657 for under $700, an ANIB Glock 31 for $400, a Colt Model M (aka 1903) for $400 and a pre model 10 for about $300. The 2 N frames were both great deals, but the others were at least pretty good.

Awesome find at an awesome price, I would have jumped all over that as well. Congratulations on a find looking and i'm sure fine shooting pistol.

Very nice! No, it's finish is not perfect and I guess no box or papers, so you have a really nice shooter there.

You should have bought 2 of them at that price. I have not seen a price that low in close to 15 years if not longer. Good for you.

For $350 OTD, I hope you covered your face and screeched out of the parking lot! Nice find, great bargain!!!
