I haven't been involved in the S&W Forum for some time now. I used to be on daily. I am looking to sell my small collection of S&W accessories like grips, boxes as well as a few revolvers. What is a good safe way to accept payment from buyers that are not face to face.
Thanks for your help.

USPS MO's, Cashiers checks and PayPal (not Family and friends). Don't ship until payment clears.

My favorite method is cash on the barrel, but mailing frog skins is risky...

Same, minus PayPal. I have bought and sold using USPS Postal Money Orders and personal checks.

Never had a problem with any buyer or seller.

Good luck.

I prefer personal check or PayPal. When a USPS MO gets lost, it takes months to get your money back. I've not had a problem with a buyer either, but can't say the same for the USPS.

FWIW, if I am interested in an item, but the seller only accepts a postal money order or a certified check, I just move on.

I’ll write a personal check or send money by almost electronic means (PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, etc.), but other means are a pain, and, to be frank, it seems a bit distrustful. After all, I’m the one who is buying an item sight-unseen. 😉

If you send it Priority Mail, it's much easier to get it back.

I found out the hard way.

I have both bought and sold quite a few guns here and straight from members . I accept personal checks , younger people don't use them , and MO's . I've sent cash through UPS , never had a problem . What it's going to come down to is what you're comfortable with . In all my transactions , I have NEVER been burned here , I've even sent stuff before I received funds .

What is interesting to me in this, and other threads, is that the U.S. has not embraced internet banking. Here in Kiwiland it is all the rage.

Yesterday I took my Bichon Fries to a local groomer. Even before I got the call he was ready to be picked up I had sent, and she had received into her bank account, the grooming charge.

And I also paid a plumbers bill online that same day too.

Mind you, in the U.S. cash is still widely used. Here you get very strange looks from younger staff if you hand it across the counter.

I use mostly cash in face-to-face transactions. Always works, and it gives potential snoopers less information on my buying habits. All legal, of course.
Also it encourages financial discipline. When I see those twenties getting ready to fly out of my billfold, sometimes it makes me hesitate and consider how long it took me to earn that money, and reconsider the purchase.
With credit and debit cards, it is too easy to just swipe the card and go on.
BTW, I have never owned a debit card.

F2F - cash is king unless I have run into previous must-haves and am low on Franklin's and Grant.
If it is a smallish amount, I prefer to use a personal check. I'm comfortable with waiting for it to clear.
If the amount has a comma in the amount, I will get a certified check from my bank and send it priority mail. Have only had one go astray and that was to a FFL 50 miles away.
I have used USPS MO's but they have a dollar limit, sometimes I need to get a few (don't go over $3k per day = more paperwork).

Check out "Gun Tab". It works like PayPal but is specifically for buying and selling firearms.
I have a membership but haven't used it yet though a couple collectors I know that buy high end stuff from estates and other collectors have and told me it's worked great for them.
