I watched a PBS show, last night, about the Navy Seals and their history. It was really good. Lots of stuff that I had no idea about. They even had a portable nuke, around 85 pounds, that packed a wallop like Little Boy. Hope y'all got to see it. I missed the first of it.

Saw a Navy recruiter today to sign up for the SEALs. I'm in pretty good shape but they told me that, at 79, I'm too old........

My wife and I both watched it. She usually doesn't want anything to do with military shows but enjoyed this one.

I enjoyed the PBS broadcast immensely too. Excellent historical overview of the wars/conflicts we have been in since WW II. I just saw Wal-mart has the DVD for $12.

That would be the W54. My buddy Milt was the project officer and went for a swim off a sub with the Navy. He was Army Ordnance.

I guess the alternative is to go to gun shops and tell people that you are a retired SEAL. Works every time.

I saw it and just finished reading "The Lone Survivor" and then watched the DVD. The book did the best job of describing what it takes to become a SEAL, in fact devoting 200 pages to the training alone. Not many could do it.

My fraternity brother from MD has two sons who are SEALs, one still active and one retired. He said he never knew where they were or what they did.

A friend of mine at the USAARENBD had been a Combat Engineer officer at Vicenza, Italy during a previous assignment.

One day, he and an NCO were driving to a deployment site and got lost.

They somehow ended up driving along a long causeway. As they continued on, they started seeing red flags along the sides of the causeway. Soon they saw that they were approaching one of those stereotypical European "seesaw" style frontier gates. Reorienting their map, they realized that they were about to drive into Yugoslavia.

Very quickly, they threw the 5 ton into reverse, taking them... and their Atomic Demolition Munition (ADM) swiftly away from Tito's "worker's paradise".
