I realize this is a ridiculously basic question but I am unable to (easily) remove the grips on my PC 1911...they appear to have been glued to the mounting bushings or something. I bought the gun new so it hasn't been bubba'd. On my other 1911's all you need to do is to push them off the frame using your finger in the magazine well. Is there a trick to pushing them off without snapping them? Must I first remove the bushings and if so, does S&W PC locktite them? Am I just being overly cautious?

thanks for any help

Sometimes the screws will compress the wood around the bushings making for an awfully tight grip.

I'm betting your being overly cautious....

Thanks...overly cautious it was. No matter how much pressure I was able to apply with my finger in the mag well they would not budge. After staring at it and cogitating for a while I jury rigged a "tool" that sorta functioned like a brake spoon and easily levered one off and was then able to tap out the other.

live and learn
