I've had a S&W 1911 PD for about 5 years and I'm looking to upgrade. I've used this gun for concealed carry and range shooting and there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just ready for something new. I want an alloy frame gun with a commander length barrel, so I've narrowed it down to the S&W PC 1911 (the one with the slide cuts and the orange grips) and the Dan Wesson CCO. I've read nothing but good things about both of these guns; they're obviously very different in appearance and I'd appreciate any opinions from anyone who's owned either or both of these pistols. They are both available in the high $1200's range.

Just thought I'd resurrect this nearly 2 month old thread. After prodding, poking, and looking, I bought the S&W 1911 PC. Took delivery yesterday and will take it to the range tomorrow. It's a beautiful gun and feels impressively tight and solid with a very crisp trigger. I'll post a range report when I can.

Looking forward to the pics and range report. Best of luck.

I dumped the standard sights for XS Sights and the gun has been flawless! (Why Smith didn't equip that gun with night sights is beyond me)

I like mine but I'll also be picking up a Dan Wesson Guardian in the near future....

The PC is nice but the frame scratches too easily, I take exceptional care of my firearms and with minimal firings, ~200 rounds I had to send it back to S&W as both the slide release and thumb safety were scratching the hell out of the finish, they did a hack job cover up on the gouges in the frame and sent it back.

Another 200 rounds and it's back to bare metal showing under the gouges again......
