I have been looking at a couple PC 4006's and I have a couple questions that I hope someone here can answer. One gun has a serial # that begins PCD and appears to be TDA, the other begins DPC and is single action. Neither has a model # on the gun, but both are PC 4006's. Were these just variations on the same Lew Horton run of 200, or are they distinctly different runs. Both serial #'s are in the 01xx range.

Thanks

The PC does change model numbers on different runs. The runs may be the same model but a different revision. For example my 1st generation Shorty 40 is prefix is PCS, they continued this run for some 1500ish guns. My 2nd generation Shorty 40 is prefix SPC, not sure of the count on this run. The runs will have a unique prefix.

On a side note both of my Shorty 40s are model number 4006. Of course this gun came to be the double stack 4013 in later standard production runs. The model number from the PC isn't as definative as they are in normal production runs.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Sam

After looking at all of Grinders pics, I think I have it figured out model and serial number wise. The PCD guns are the tactical version with TDA trigger and fixed sights, the DPC are the Limited version SA with adjustable sights. Thanks for the replys.

There are at least 4 versions of the PC 40, TDA and SA with and without comps. The TDA 5" models I've seen are two-tone with the rest being all stainless. Here's a PC 40 Limited SA.

You are correct sir
On PC pistols, the product code and serial prefixes are very valuable ID tools
The early Tactical is the #170020 and PCD
The Limited is the #170033 and DPC
