PC 5906 IDPA Edition

cherrypointmarine, Your mention of a LE letterhead caused me to recall my DPA ordering saga when I called the factory to order the 5" gun. A rather rude woman there did not want to allow me to order one, and tried to discourage me from ordering by saying these were LE only. Similar experience, perhaps the same woman, when I'd called S&W a few years prior asking which distributor my local FFL could order a 952 from. Anyway, I was LE and she grudgingly accepted the order. I asked why LE only? She said so they wouldn't have to build many. Months later, she called and tried to get me to accept a different model. I declined. When I finally received the 5" DPA, it had been sent with 10-rd. magazines even though the AWB had expired. I was an armorer when a S&W rep visited the Dept, and he arranged to have the standard magazines sent to me. A grind, just to send S&W my hard earned money;)

Here is a rather different one I found on the web some time ago.
DPA 5" gun, but set up single action, like the PPC 9 but with a Bomar rear and a UGH! attached rail. #DPA 0442
The case says Singapore and S/A on it. Sold at Collectors firearms some time ago.

I bought several of the Bomar sights for the S/W guns from Dennys Speed shooter supply or something like that. When NRA rules changed to allow adjustable sights in service pistol event. Never had the guts to machine off the lip at the rear of the slide to put them on one of my guns.

Then discovered the Kensight DAS type sight that could be altered to fit the S/W cut , fully adjustable, great sight picture and didn't change the gun a bit. I like a tall front sight on my competition guns, so the Dawson fronts make me elevate the rear a bit more than is necessary if they were shorter.

DPA0442 sports the configuration of a 170119 PC Super 9.

Skjos, that's a very interesting Super9, I wonder if it has the Briley bushing common to many of the P-center guns and how many were actually produced? I can't tell by the pics.

The answers you seek are here: 5906 "Super 9" Information

137 non including DPA0442.

As far as the Briley bushing, I have never seen a picture from the muzzle-end, I've always assumed there was a Briley bushing present, but have never actually observed it.

I bet the DPA gun has a bushing. I didn't think other Super-9s had one. But admittedly I have only seen some photos that showed barrels that looked like standard 5906 barrels only longer. Again running of memory !!

The non-PC Super 9 is configured with the standard 3rd gen barrel slide arrangement.

Calreb you are correct, the Super 9s 3 barrel type guns are not Performance Center Guns they were made for Wischo they have a barrel bushing like a 5904.
Skjos great article on the Super 9s that tells all, had read before.
you mention McMillian Super 9 from RSR. Richard got that from me,
RSR was one of my wholesalers. I had made a special order 4 Super 9s
one was lost at the post office so RSR replaced it that's why there were.
5 guns in that shipment.

Now the Singapore guns, I have both guns, BCJ0142 product code 170119 is a Limited variation and BCJ0104 product code 649842 is a Tactical variation. Roy's letter he found no pistols with product code
649842 but found it in 170119 code.

Stjos you said in your article that Lew Horton had 1 shipment of 2 on one date the then another shipment of one were did you get that info.

Most of the information on the PC Super 9's was provided by Richard McMillian back in 2013.

Here is the information for the one shipment (BCJ0104):
"My pistol is serial number BCJ0104, Product Code 649842, Built 10/4/02, Transferred to Performance Center 9/18/08, Shipped to Lew Horton 9/12/11, Listed as Part of a Group of PC, 5 Inch 5906s Shipped to Singapore."

The second shipment:
"The other Super 9 PC serial number BCJ0142 was product code 170119 was also built on 5906TSW Frame, and was a contract over run shipped to Lew Horton in 2010."

I'm trying to track down were I received that the second shipment was two pistols in November 2010. Pretty specific information, but I cannot find my source.

Do the Singapore guns have a Briley bushing? If you have more information to share on the PC Super 9 pistols, you can reply to the Super 9 thread and I can add the information to the original post.

- Thanks

I have three, two four-inch pistols and a five-inch pistol. The five-inch is unfired in the case. The five is in the 450 range. One four-inch is heavily used (100s) and the other is lightly used (50s).
