I have a black plastic box from 1998/9 Performance Center pistol with original corrosion paper for semi-auto and 1 mag. Label removed. Wondering if it’s worth selling or shipping would be more than value.

What caliber/round count is the magazine and is it PC marked?

I’m sure someone would like the box and would be happy to pay more than shipping. Some people would pay you nicely for a PC marked magazine that was correct for their pistol.

Jim

That’s rare and real Performance Center. For certain, at least a share of the first run 845 Limited and the 4006 Limited came in these boxes.

Price is a question I cannot answer, but for sure, some collector would love to pair up his PC gun with an original box.

It’s absolutely a shame that someone elected to peel the end label.

Yes shipping would be more/same as value of case.

It couldn’t cost more than $15.00-$20.00 max to mail it. Maybe someone doesn’t want a label that would be incorrect. (?) Those labels easily fall off and sometimes are saved/found under the foam. Sometimes not.

As Sevens said those cases were for a few different models.

Still no info offered about the magazine. :D

Please excuse yet another edition of my "anecdotage".

S&W found me bemused, when in the late '80s/early '90s, they started shipping their Premium models in these black "Doskocil" gun cases.

As I recall, they were molded by the MTM plastics co. and marketed under the brand name, "Gun Guard".

They were well made and durable, yet inexpensive and could be found prevalent at most gun shows and sporting goods retailers.

I still have a couple of the single cases (as above) and a couple of their 4 gun versions.

They were also available in brown and with an "outdoor" scene molded on the cover.

Again, a fine product, but hardly at the "TactiCool" level of the aluminum PC attache case.

I can only assume S&W didn't think at the time, that folks would want to hang on to them.

Only difference was the PC sticker and end label.

Well the PC sticker was GOLDEN !!! Sometimes it was even put on straight.

The funny thing is the only PC examples that I have that don’t have original cases, are the ones that came in the aluminum cases. Most ones I’ve seen didn’t have the outer shippers box, (with the label.) Were these unlabeled aluminum cases so popular/valuable that people sold them? Or something else?

From the condition of most of the aluminum PC cases I've seen, the "Doskocil" cases seem to hold up much better.

Still, the "Man from U.N.C.L.E. Tactical Alloy Attache Case" was waaaay cooler than the pedestrian yet utilitarian plastic case.

I wouldn’t be interested but others apparently like these computer printed labels.

Hopefully they are being used for personal and not for nefarious reasons. You supply the info you want and they print it.

Again not for me but they seem to be selling well with 100% positive feedback. I hope that those buying these are somehow fully disclosing authenticity.

Yikes! I see why a purist collector might want a label made that way but not for me either.

Yeah, shades of the Colt boxes and hang tags that are offered out there.
