It was bound to happen.

Look hard enough and you'll find what you looking for, well not that hard...

A PCZ, CQB has been secured.

Rumor has it, its 1 of 20 for the LAPD's SIS team? The gun has night sights long dead and a milled slide for a decocker but the spring fixture is non existent, just a standard safety decocker...

She's minty fresh, she has been fired which is absolutely perfect because I can put my best target load threw it.

Will have it lettered January...

Any added information would be swell.

Thanks
Erik

Beautiful 45! Congrats! :)

Member CALREB has the history on these scarce guns. They were ordered by LAPD Pistol Team members IIRC - 19 4566s and one 4506-1. Which was ordered by an S.I.S. member IIRC. BMCM owns the 4506-1 now.

The precursor pistol to the production of the 45CQBs. The runs of PC 45CQBs coming the next year. Hopefully CALREB will see your post and provide you more info.

Looking forward to your range report! Enjoy that fine 45! :) Regards 18DAI

If I get a chance I'll shoot her this weekend and report...

Pistol team? Like competition shooting team? Sorry I know nothing about them. What did they order them for just EDC?

I've seen that 4506 and she is a beauty!

Again, CALREB is a better source on these LAPD Special order guns.

He tells the story on how these guns came to be, in a couple of threads here. A search of his posts should provide you with all the details.

IIRC member 03Fatboy has one and may also have some info. I own 45CQBs, including a one of one PCZ 45CQB serial prefix. But I have yet to score one of these LAPD guns. Regards 18DAI

This makes 3 for me, I have the all black 4563 NIB and the 4566 all stainless NIB... never cared much for the other 4563....

My heart is whole

PCZ, CQB

That is a nice find and congrats! I lucked into mine, and bought it from a nice guy locally that worked at the LAPRAAC. CALREB knows him. Mine looks like yours but without night sights.

I was told they were ordered for the firearm instructors but I have not lettered it and can’t verify. The guy I bought it from was a pretty resource. It will be interesting to see what the Historian says so keep us posted!

CALREB is the best resource and he will chime in when he sees this thread.

Man, you are one fortunate guy! I’ve never seen a CQB in the flesh.

Fyi Trijicon has the slide for my 4567 now. $57 includes return shipping to get the sights relamped. Hope to get it perhaps next week.

I thought about having these re-lamped for a hot second, but I was strongly advised against it so it will remain in its condition...

Well I finally got a quick 10 to walk out to the back yard range and put 12 down the tube...

Maybe its me and a new gun, I feel I and the gun do better... will try again next weekend

Nice find Erocksmash, They were private purchased by members of the Firearms Training Unit mostly, their may have been a couple officers from other units because you had to get to 20+ to get the build done. Guns were delivered to a couple dealers, mostly because the Academy Revolver Club store wanted to charge like 75 per gun to get them shipped there, and other local stores like B&B Guns in North Hollywood did it for free, go figure. I had mine lettered cant remember the dates etc , but it states 20 or 21 ordered, cant remember how many were delivered. I thought a couple never made it to the guys who ordered them. I would be interested to know( even privately) how you hunted one down, all though most everyone who ordered them are retired and have moved/fled from CA. I will probably sell mine at some time, not right now. I have never shot it and I have no heirs. I wanted to take it to Tulsa, isnt that coming up in Nov.
Great find . We did shoot some guys and like other PC guns at the time they shot really well. Mine is 197, not sure of the serial range. I will look for the letter and post a copy. Very nice...
The reason most were never shot or very little was they were never approved for duty until 10 or 12 years later when 1911s were approved for all officers. So even guys who still had them just went 1911. The guys putting the order together were told by the Depts armorers that as long as the guns said 4566 and had no special engraving they would be approved. When the guns came in after they were examined, the powers to be felt that they were too tight and would require more maintenance than the average officer would perform,if others outside the FTU were to start ordering the same type guns, so they were not approved. Those of us already shooting the P/C 9s in competition knew this was B/S . The guys failed to get the Capt or someone of rank into fold on the order so it got the thumbs down , gun jealousy being what it is among police.
I was able to locate this last night. The second page shows the gun build started in 02-98 and they were shipped out in 04-98. Says 22 were built, I kinda remember 2 guys didnt get theirs, at least initially, and the story from S/W was one frame was not right and one gun was taken by the sales dept. So those guns may have shipped later , I dont know. I was hoping to get the serial number range. But maybe the other info posted here, covers that. I know 3 or 4 guys who still have theirs maybe I will try and send them an email to check their number. At least this settles the initial order/ number shipped info.

That pistol is clearly defective, send it to me and I'll make sure it's right before returning it-that might take a couple of years however :D

Hey somebody had to say it! I understand not wanting to put a lot of rounds through a pristine limited production model. I typically give anything new to me 50 rounds to get acquainted.

Enjoy that fantastic pistol!

Thanks guys she's really sweet, CALBER I sent you a PM...

I'm partial to solid colors honestly, never got into the 2 tone, my pop is itching to shoot it so she will get another run this weekend to test my new Dualing tree...

I've got the all black and all stainless, they are probably my favorite 45s along with the WVSP4566TSWs lol
