I thought it was a Netflix series, but it aired on the BBC in 2013.

My daughter told me she heard it was as good as Breaking Bad. Not even close, but I've enjoyed it so far. I'm getting ready to start season 4. There are 6 seasons total with 6 episodes each.

The story line, acting and cinematography are most good.

"Peaky Blinders is a gangster family epic set in Birmingham, England, in 1919, several months after the end of the First World War in November 1918."

Only way it's kinda like Breaking is that you'll be rooting for the bad guy.

Pretty much binge watched it. As with pretty much all Brit movies/series, have to activate the sub titles. Have a hard time understanding their version of English. Almost lost me when Thomas started having visits from his late wife. Patiently awaiting season 6. Hope it comes along soon. Too long and I'll have to watch 1-5 again, recall all the story lines.

A friend told me about it a couple of years back and I had to make spell the name, because Peaky Blinders didn't make any sense to me, until I'd watched them blind some peakers a time or two.

I binged watched (almost) and the close caption was a must! The wife lost interest fast, but I was hooked. Might be time to watch it again.

I liked it. If the events in the story were based n facts, there was a lot going on in the world 100 years ago.

"Breaking Bad" is a very strange show to compare to "Peaky Blinders".

Then again, someone I know said it felt to him like they were working from a script for "Sons of Anarchy" using the cast and costumes from "Downton Abbey" :D

To me it feels most like a British version of "Boardwalk Empire".

By the way, anyone ever see Nick Cave's music video of the full title song? It's not explicit or scary as such, but somehow one of the creepiest things I've ever watched:

It’s been three or four years since I watched. I enjoyed it then, and have thought about giving it another go.

We finally gave up on the series with this most recent season.

It became, for us, all fluff and no meat. Between the soundtrack and the slo-mo it became too much style overs substance.

YMMV, but it had been going downhill for a while, imho. We enjoyed the first few seasons, though.

I watched the first season and stopped one episode into season 2. I thought it was lame. Many psychopath criminal characters I couldn't become vested in. Many are supposed to be WWI vets who know battlefield tactics, yet in the season 1 showdown they just line up like 18th century foot soldiers!

And I don't associate the theme song as something for bad *** criminals. I can't separate it from where I heard it first, Dumb and Dumber.

"Alfie" is definately the best charactor in the series. How Thomas can keep it "all together" at any given time is beyond comprehension. A great Series, I've watched it all over again and I'm patiently awaiting Season 6. Another similar but also excellent Netfix series is "Animal Kingdom". The actor who plays Michael-Aunt Pol's son in Peaky is also in Animal Kingdom.

The theme song "Red Right Hand" plays into Season 2, episode 6 which I believe is the best episode of the series.
