So I go to take my daughter in for her first swine flu shot at our pediatrician's office today. I walk up to the door and they now have the "No Firearms Allowed" sign that the Attorney Generals's office made available to restaurants taped up in the glass next to the door.

What the hell? I've been bringing our daughter there for over 4 years and now they post it? What, did they just feel left out on the recent restaurant bill in Arizona? I'll definately be writing a letter to the doctor's of the practice and let them know my feelings about it. While we've always liked the doctors in the practice, their admin staff has always been difficult. This may be the last straw and we'll looking for a new pediatrician.

What that sign really means is "PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME IN HERE AND COMMIT MURDER AND MAYHEM BECAUSE NO ONE HERE IS ARMED." Some of the smartest people are the biggest dumbasses. I'm sure that stupid sign will keep out those who have ill will.

They are just getting the office ready for life under obamacare. They will be gov't employees, and the office will be considered "federal property", just like the post office.

I wish I were kidding.

What happened to "don't tell" ?????? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that I carry a gun into lots of places that would rather me not, and one of two things is going to happen.
Number 1. Nothing
Number 2. A madman comes in and I am able to defend myself. In which case I will accept the righteous indignation of the owner.
People have the right to do what they please. Quite frankly, I DON'T want anyone other than an LEO to come into MY office armed either. I do not post that sentiment, but I can tell you that I have within reach and hidden one shotgun and two side arms if the need arises.
Short version: Pick your battles a bit more carefully.

If they've simply copied the sign notifying patrons of liquor-licensed establishments that firearms are unwelcome, it has no force of law, and you're committing no offense to ignore it. If they genuinely wish to prohibit firearms on their premises, they need to provide some sort of "check" facility, i.e., self serve lockers, a receptionist who'll check your gun, or etc. Simply posting a "No Guns" sign doesn't cut it here in AZ anymore (never really did...) Apart from liquor-licensees, the gun banners need to assume the liability of demanding that you handle your weapon at check-in/out (safe backstop provided? Qualified personnel, secure storage provided?) Most businesses won't or can't meet these defensive standards, and rely on intimidation to discourage otherwise legal carry. I ignore them, and mentally suggest their commission of a probably impossible unnatural act, and then take my future business elsewhere.

I would be calm and collected since I know that my 4 year old daughter won't be carrying a firearm to their office. I mean, after all, she is the customer there, I would just be the chauffer................

It's called concealed carry for a reason. If you educate and equip yourself properly no one will ever know you are armed. Scenario 1 is you carry concealed (in a proper way), nothing happens, you go home and every is happy as dead pigs in the sun. Scenario 2 is you are forced to un-conceal your weapon and use it in the defense of your and/or your family's lives, you and your family stay alive and you face what ever legal ramifications come your way, at least you'll be alive to face them.

You mean this?

13-3102.01. Storage of deadly weapons; definitions

A. If an operator of a public establishment or a sponsor of a public event requests that a person carrying a deadly weapon remove the weapon, the operator or sponsor shall provide temporary and secure storage. The storage shall be readily accessible on entry into the establishment or event and allow for the immediate retrieval of the weapon on exit from the establishment or event.

B. This section does not apply to the licensed premises of any public establishment or public event with a license issued pursuant to title 4.

C. The operator of the establishment or the sponsor of the event or the employee of the operator or sponsor or the agent of the sponsor, including a public entity or public employee, is not liable for acts or omissions pursuant to this section unless the operator, sponsor, employee or agent intended to cause injury or was grossly negligent.

D. For the purposes of this section, "public establishment" and "public event" have the same meanings prescribed in section 13-3102.

Because I think a Dr's office is private property and the sign could be considered suitable notice under AZ's trespassing statue.

Print one side flip the paper on it's long axis, print the other side, trim, pass 'em to your friends and a few for yourself. Repeat as needed.

One one of the Wachovia banks was robbed at gunpoint a few days ago and featured on the local news. Didn't the robber read the "NO GUNS" sticker at the door??

... and I understand why they don't want patients to carry guns.

Very nice, thanks for posting that. I gonna go buy a ream of card stock now.

I agree that its CONCEALED carry for a reason. If it's not illegal I leave the M&P40c and keep the P3AT. I really need to install some lock boxes though.

Thanks, BigRich315. Let me know how it comes out on your printer. Sometimes it's difficult to get BOTH sides to register with each other.

At the same time, I'm a fan of the "Don't tell" school of thought but it's basically not a problem in NH. Still, the card has no name on it, who'll know?

I've got to say, I believe you have the right to carry..

I also believe you have to right to request others not to carry in your home or place of business.
