looking for a poofer load for 44 spl for accuracy out to 25 yds.

settled on the bottom end of AA#2 as a starting point.

3.6 grains of AA#2 and the Penn 185 DBBWC seated to the crimp groove. We will see how it goes in a 25 round big bore match for points next week (unless the rains keep it from happening)

I will use a 629 4". I also need to invest in some D550 dies for 44 as I am not used to the single stage anymore.

I load my 44 Special wadcutters with 4.0 - 4.3 grains of Bullseye.

Someone say .44 special and wadcutters? :D Haven't tried AA2 yet, but I love them WC's too! Shoot bunches of them in my 4"629 and 2 1/2" Bulldog. I load them from mild cream puff loads to stout upper level loads. Worked up nice shooting loads using a variety of powders, specifically Red Dot, Bullseye, Unique, and 800X.The 208 gr WC and 240 gr FWN loaded stout at around 1000-1100 FPS (.44 mag brass) are exceptionally accurate in my 629 and seem to pack a nice little punch. Though I pay close attention to the seated depth when throwing heavier charges.

Be well all

232gr "button nose" & 240 gr WFN

the match I was going to shoot tomorrow was cancelled due to flooding. I will have an opportunity to test prior to next months match and see if I need to adjust.

Duster340, I would certainly be interested in your loading with bullseye and the 162 WC (which is closest to my 185 Penn) on the bottom end…..for best accuracy.

Sorry to hear the match was canceled. I can pm you when I'm home this weekend regarding some light load data. The 162 gr WC throw closer to 170 gr.

Have a good Friday
