In the September AARP Bulletin (you all read it, right?), there is a chart showing the percentage of adults who owned guns in 2013, by state. Not surprisingly, Alaska leads with 61.7%, and the usual suspects, New York and the other New England states bring up the rear. But what's the deal with last-place Delaware? Only 5.2% of its residents owned guns in 2013. Can anyone who is familiar with Delaware offer a reason? Even gun-hating California has a 20% ownership rate. My own state, gun-friendly Texas, shows a surprisingly mediocre 35.7% rate. Surely we're doing better than that by now.
