Good evening everyone! Does anyone have any experience with this model? It has the longer slide with the windows at the muzzle and a 5.5" Barrel
Sku#11710 with Thumb Safety

Please tell what you like and or don't like about it,
How the balance is when shooting,
Reliability and Magazines,

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I wish I could come up with a reason to own that m&p . I saw one some months back locally, handled it , liked the balance and new sized brass pluck tested well with good chamber support . Reliability ? Not like I would expect it to be anything but reliable but s&w does let the occasion problem firearm on the door so use CS if needed and same for the mags ? Nothing new there but buy extra recoil springs to you can match recoil to a load !! I really liked it and the comp slide but like all my m&ps I would more than likely add some apex up grades to the trigger as it felt like a 2.0 not a well tuned 1911 that I carry . I'm not a match shooter so not like I have a use for it .

My only 5" centerfire pistol is a 9mm steel 1911 for a fun on the range and has a 2lb 14oz to 3lb trigger with very limited take up and nicely fit a briley bushing to tighten groups .

Hey If you hunt ,say deer . Thats m&p would make a find handgun out to 40 maybe 50 yards with a 2moa dot optic . I use a DW 8" revolver for handgun hunting I had since '76 and now wears a 2moa ultra dot .

I have a 4" non ported Performance Center Shield .45. As far as reliablity, I have had no issues in approximately 350 rounds. The magazines work well but you have load them for a few days before you can get that 7th round in. Mine shoots softer than my Ithaca 1911. The recoil is very manageable. I have no complaints. Hopes this helps. Good luck.

Update: I pulled the trigger on one anyway! I truly believe that with the balance with how a 4.25 2.0 45 shoots, this would be a great edition! The shop I bought it at, had three of them so I could pick out the one I wanted. I bought the one with the best trigger. My selected piece, actually has a fairly smooth trigger for the striker fired 45 world... I took it apart and cleaned it like a responsible gun owner should! I am hoping to get it to the range tomorrow after I teach a class. I will give a full range report and Ammo report tomorrow evening. Won't be a huge round count, but it will be enough to get a good idea on how it handles. I got it out the door for 755.00 and I bought two extra Magazines with it for another 75.00

Full range report and hopefully a video clip tomorrow evening. At least some photos anyway!!!

Good afternoon everyone! I just wrote a review on the Gun and my experience with it on my range trip. Unfortunately, the forum logged me out when I went to go post it, SO I LOST IT ALL!!! If anyone can tell me how to retrieve it, it had a lot of information.

Great shooting Gun!

Unfortunately there is no way you are going to get that post back. However, in the future use THIS.

Copy your post (or anything else) as you go and if something like this happens you just grab it from there and paste it back in. It works on the normal Windows copy operations.

Yea copy so you can paste if your typing time runs to long as we all have had that happen .

How about a short review - Do you like it ??

Good evening everyone! Thank you for the advice of copying off of a word document.
Short version of my thoughts on it; Great gun!

Felt Recoil: was equivelant to about a medium load for 230 gr even though the rounds I shot were standard round nose FMJ. Reminds you of a .45 acp but NOT harsh by any means.

Muzzle Flip: Reduced by I would say about 20%. I was able to hold 5 rounds into 4" circle at 10 feet. Once again, reminds you that it is a .45acp, but with great technique and hand strength, easily enjoyable to shoot and shoot well.

Reliability: I cleaned and lubed the gun before heading to range. NO malfunctions in the 100 rounds that put through the gun. 230 gr. FMJ, Federal American Eagle and Sig Sauer Elite Performance.

Trigger: 3 1/2 - 3.7 lb trigger pull according to my Lyman Electronic Gauge.
My sample was has a little less than 3/8" take up, definite wall, and a crisp clean break, with NO overtravel. Nice positive reset for those of you who are fixated on that kind of thing. Still hinged on this model.

Sights: Metal 3 dot Suppressor Height from factory!

CORE edition, so it is Optic Ready!

Reloads were ok, NOT the fastest for my standard, but fast enough.

10 Round Steel mazazines worked great, zero issues, No hang ups, no premature dropping by accidentally hitting release.

Gun in MHO, Looks and Shoots Great!

Nice Job Smith & Wesson!!! Would make a great member of anyone's family!

Sounds like you have a nice light factory trigger for a change! Good to hear you have a nice shooter. .
