Grabagun.com had these on sale for $339 last weekend and with the $50 rebate from S&W it was a no brainer for me. I picked it up from my FFL last night. Comparing it to my Model 36 with both loaded I could not feel much difference in weight so I was fairly surprised when it turned out to be 6oz in difference between the two. Still on the fence about the grips. I prefer to have all my fingers on the gun to aid in control. Given the lighter weight I will probably change them out for something else. Have to try it at the range first and see. Good smooth non stacking trigger. I put some snap caps in and cycled it a couple hundred times last night. Will do the same over the next few days. It is cut for moon clips and came with three. The first four rounds loaded easily but trying to get the last round in by hand was a bear and I bent the clip. They are pretty thin and fragile in my opinion. Was not planning to use the clips anyway. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.

Very nice! I picked one up few weeks ago (used) before the rebate for about the same price. That’s a steal. Mine was bought from a Glock guy who fired half a box of ammo and told me how inaccurate it was because of the trigger. Shoots well, and dry firing has really helped the trigger, although now it has a turn line.

The stock grips would hang up a speedloaded from time to time doing drills, but I threw on a pair of uncle mikes because I like the small boot grips. I recommend those if you decide to stay with small grips.

Is that a side guard holster? I like the looks of that. Does the clip bend around like a “C” at the bottom that goes around the belt?

Yes it is a Sideguard, and the clip does curl around to catch the belt nicely. I like them for appendix carry and have another for my 640-1 as well.

I like all the J-Frames but the 442 is my favorite. You can grinde the grip to clear speed loaders. I also like the old Uncle Mike's Boot Grip for my pocket gun and Hogue Tamer for my waistband gun

I picked this up last week. With the $50.00 rebate is was a great deal. The 438 is impossible to find anymore. In my opinion the black finish holds up much better the finish on the 638. As you can see I switched out the steel cylinder for a titanium one I had. Other then that dam lock it’s a very nice lite little carry gun.

One of the reasons I bought this 442 was the lack of the lock. Would not have purchased it if it had been there.

If the cylinder is rebated for moon clips? Can you load 9mm in it? I ask because TK does a conversion for 9mm and you can still shoot .38 with or w/o moonclips.
