Performance Center SD40

Smith & Wesson Performance Center SD40 .40S&W Semi-Auto Pistol
I have seen one of these for sale .Have any of you folks ever seen one ?
I can find no listing of it in any Smith book I have.
It looks similar to a Shorty Forty but a bit different and marked differently.

Yes, I have a SD 40 - as well as the SD .356TSW and SD 9.
The SD (Stocking Dealer) pistols were I believe the first models out of the Performance Center. Not that many were made, and they are not found for sale that often.

I think there is one for sale on Gander MTN but its a 356 so I wouldnt think its as desirable as a 40, I thought they were mentioned in the catalog of S/W but not sure.
Not sure about their being the first models out, only because they have the extended tang and full checkered frontstrap, and those upgrades came on later models, but if they were only made for SD's numbers would be low. Kinda a neat niche compact bottom, full size top. nice gun .I kinda always wanted a nine just for the full set.
The model I have never seen is the pc 5906 ,I think, described as 3.5" top on a full size 5906 lower. Bob

Sweet gun to shoot and to look at, but I decided to focus on 9mm and let mine go to fund some other PC pistols. (you're welcome Waterbury Bob ). Again I really like the look and the feel and if you like it go for it, but it is an El Camino of a gun. It's not a full size target gun and it's not a compact, plus being all stainless it will pull your britches off if u try to carry it. It's a real shame they were not built on a 6906 frame. I'm sure your going to ask so I'll go ahead and say I've seen them priced and sold from $850 to $1500 for the .40 version. The 9mm seems to usually go for a little more and the .356 rarely move at anything over $900. Unfortunately (for you) they are so rare you don't have much ground to negotiate on and are at the mercy of the seller. They are listed in the SCSW 3rd edition under the respective full size models by product code only and as a 4 1/4" barrel. You would over look it if you didn't already know what it was.

If I remember right the SD40 was the only one made over 200 units, something like 204. The SD9 and SD40 were more like 120 units each. They are on a 6900 size frame but it is all stainless, same as the 3566 compact.
