I know we often tell ourselves and others to appreciate every day as if it were our last. However, sometimes we’re so busy that we don’t take the time to appreciate that perspective.

A while back, I was looking for some old photographs of the city of Boston. I came across an image of Fenway Park from 1946. After seeing the pic, I wondered how much it had changed. I found a pic from 2018. After switching back and forth between the two images, I noted how much construction in the city occurred during that period.

Then something struck me. I noticed how much has not changed. I switched back and forth between the images and looked at the outfield bleachers, then the garage doors on the outfield wall, then the shape of the infield, and the shape of the stands. Much of it was the same or very similar.

Then I thought about the people at the game in 1946. I am sure there were men, women, children, and families (both immediate as well as extended) who enjoyed that game. Most of these people are no longer with us today.

It made me pause and think “man, I have to try to enjoy each day as much as possible. Someday (74 years from now), a guy might be looking at a picture of place I had been. I would sure hope that I was having a good time.”

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!!
