One of my pet peeves is, our societies insistence on baking their products, especially soda crackers until they are burned dark brown.
I was viewing S&W's thread on accessory batteries, today, while having lunch, when I discovered that I was eating soda crackers that were not burned dark brown. Those unburned crackers were the first I've seen in years.
I'm not aware of when the trend started, for bakers worldwide, to bake their products especially their soda crackers until they are, dark brown. I became aware of the trend, while working in our small, home town bakery at 10 yrs of age, around 80 years ago.
I feel fully qualified to comment on the baking of soda crackers. During my electrical career, I supplied the electrical power to run Soda cracker lines, and also the controls to operate those lines, in a couple of commercial bakeries in Columbus, OH.
I realize that my pet peeve is a trivial thing to most folks, but never the less, it really gripes me. That's more than enough said, I'm shure.
