Pet peeve with on-line dating.

As I get older the priority list of an older friend makes more and more sense. Not completely, but I see the logic.

1. Can she drive?

2. Is she a good cook?

3. Is she capable of abstract thought?

Looks are a bonus.
1 should be can she drive at night.

A previous popular member of this forum found his wife online. It did not turn out well. My brother n law met his last 5 wives on line. I think that I would just pass before going on line, and trust to "normal" outlets.

I very valid point indeed. I've seen thousands of pictures where a woman has what amounts to a blank, perturbed or even angry expression on their face. For cryin' out loud people SMILE! Be happy. Look like you actually want to find someone.

Maybe smiling would violate some truth in advertising rule.

My son met his wife online. They’ve been together for 8 yrs so far and still like each other. I’ve looked, but I’m a cynic and spot all sorts of flaws. I was married for 28 years and have no romantic illusions at all lol

Well, meeting online has become the "normal" way to meet these days. One of my sons met his wife online. He had a profile posted on a dating site and she sent him a message...and that got the ball rolling.

They met in 2014, got married in 2018, and just had my first grandchild a month ago. They're just crazy about, and perfect for, each other. :)

I have a friend who, before 'rona, was a prolific online dater. Oh, the stories he would tell - nothing but drama! And the pictures online vs reality, oh, man!

Forget online dating! If you want to find someone, you have to put yourself out there.

I don't drink and going to bars is fun. At least you get to see, in real life, who/what you're dealing with and actually talk with them. And women, most women, are there for the same reason you're there. I'll leave it at that.

This is not really a dating site, I joined Classmates.com some years back. I had totally retired from the military and industry, went back to school for a couple of years and was bored.
I have an airplane and was looking for old pals I could visit around the country.

My first contact was from a gal I had met in 1956. I had always regretted not asking her to marry me.

We're in our 18th year of marriage and life is bliss. (except for being old that is):D

May as well request a whole body naked pic while you are at it.

Lots of young people just meet on Twitter, Instagram or whatever the latest social media app is. They don't have any problems sending the nude photos using their phone with the number plus email address. Times change.
