This photo came up on another website. Does anybody know the story? Is that a suppressor, and if so, how well did it work?

But a M10 is a long way from a Mosin-Nagant. How would the S&W's cylinder gap be closed?
 
Yep, the Mosin is was the worlds only suppressed revolver ever., at least the only one produced in any quantity.
 
It is just a Nagant, from the name Leon Nagant.
Mosin Nagant is the rifle.
(I'm a Russian collector in my other life)
 
Thanks for all the detail and history! But...the revolver in my post doesn't look like M29 you discuss. Was a .38 given a similar treatment?

as said in post 3 "prototype setup. Tunnel rats found a suppressed firearm too bulky in the close confines of the tunnels. Ditto for the headlamp."
