Thinking of purchasing a 2.5 " or 3 " S&W blued K/L frame revolver (i.e. Model 19 or 586, etc) or maybe even purchasing a longer barreled version and modifying the gun to the above specs. Therefore I would appreciate any advice or photographs of similar type guns you guys could privide. Also if anyone could provide a source for 2.5 or3 " barrels this would be appreciated as well.

Here's my 2.5" Model 19-3...a 1972 vintage gun.

There should be enough 21/2's floating around that you would not need to modify a gun to get one.

2.5" M19's were fairly common, although I don't see many of them on the market any longer. There should be enough around that you shouldn't have to modify a longer gun.

Over the years I have come to appreciate the fixed sight .357 Mag as a fighting gun... while I still like the looks of target sights, I am now persuaded the fixed sight is a better arrangement for carry.

That said, I think the large number of 3" and 4" S&W M65 police trade in guns that have been on the market of late are not only a great value, but as good a choice for carry as any gun around.

This M65 belonged to the Texas Dept. of Corrections... and cost me $249.00 from CDNN:

When I got the gun it was in near new mechanical condition, but showed some finish wear and was fitted with some uggggggly Pacmyer rubber grips... I replaced the grips, and sweet talked S&W wizard Gene Williams into doing a bead blast on the gun...

Now the gun is an outstanding example a utility carry gun...
