I was at the local fun shop today and picked up a 10-5, nickel, 2", pinned, square butt. Gun is a solid 98%+ piece, with no box and a set of what i believe are aftermarket Goodyears on it. My questions are #1. VALUE... I know I over payed, but it was there and it "spoke to me". #2. Is the square butt a less common find... I don't recall seeing many over the years. #3. CARE... while I own way to many Smith revolvers this is my first nickel gun...is there any tricks or things to know about keeping them looking nice? Serial # puts it at a 1974-75 gun.

They made the 10-5s in either round or square butt. Neither is particularly special. While the round butts are more popular today (easier to carry concealed), the square butts generally "come up" better in the hand for shooting.

I use Flitz with as soft a cotton cloth I can find for polish/shine the nickel.
It works great for me!
