Great find on a great revolver! Congrats!!!

I had one of these and a 4 inch. For whatever reason, I shot the 2 inch better than the 4 inch!

I think it was the best shooter I ever had other than my Sig 210 (m49).

I stupidly SOLD it! UGH....

Do not ever sell it... ok?

Very nice purchase.
I never quite "got" the usefulness of adjustable target sights on a 2-inch barrel revolver, but I think the short Model 15s are great looking guns.

THE USEFULNESS OF ADJUSTABLE SIGHTS ON ANY GUN--INCLUDING A 2" REVOLVER--IS THAT POI IS MADE TO COINCIDE WITH POA, AT A DISTANCE GREATER THAN 20'. THE EFFECTIVE RANGE OF THIS BEAUTIFUL M15 IS MUCH GREATER THAN THAT, AND THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE GUN CAN'T BE ENJOYED, OUTSIDE OF ITS ROLE AS A SHORT RANGE SD WEAPON......

IMHO,THERE IS NOTHING MORE FRUSTRATING THAN HAVING TO USE KENTUCKY WINDAGE ON AN OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL, FIXED SIGHT GUN.....

A 2" round butt K frame S&W has been on my wish list for decades. Given the choice I would want adjustable sights. I just haven't come across a deal yet.

The 2" model 15 has an interesting ancestry; it was preceded by an Air Force 1962 contract for a similar pistol. Prior to that S&W didn't produce a 2" M15 commercially. Whatever S&Ws motivation, the M15 2" came out around 1964, just after the USAF contract. The Air Force version was a Model 56, of about 15,000+ being made. Most are now destroyed and any survivors are worth $8,000+(check Collector value books & GunBroker for S&W Model 56). The M56 was a dull blue, no checkering or serrations, a "56" inside the crane, and had "U. S." stamped on the backstop. All were square butt, as are all 2" M15s only square butt that I'm aware of. I've got a M15 that I picked up with a so-so finish remaining so I did a round butt on it before refinishing. Love it; it shoots fantastic!! In the late 1970's we were issued the M56 as our duty gun on Coast Guard Intelligence. Since we couldn't keep those when we left, I know several of us chose the 2" M15 as an alternate prize. ;-)

No doubt the Model 15 with a 2" barrel is one of the best looking revolvers by S&W....

I agree. Was about to post the same thing. Just a mean-looking little sub. I think they look better than the snub nose 19's, too.

Congratulations on that "BEAUTY". I looked for 1 for around 2 years off & on, and gave up. Ended up with a 10-5 snub instead. Later got a 66-2. Am happy with them, but would still like the 15. Enjoy! Bob

I just got my 2" model 15. The fellow I got it from never fired it and had it for years. It is 1973, and hard to tell if it was ever fired

I was finally able to score a real nice 4” Model 15-3 last week from an auction site. I got to pick it up yesterday. The serial number is 3K15xxx.
