I have been making regular rounds of the LGS's in the area for a while looking for a model 15. Today I was on the way home from the airport and stopped in a local shop and found this baby for a nice price. It's a pre-14 1952 five screw K-38 Target Masterpiece. Serial number is K164XXX and matches between barrel, cylinder, and frame. The stocks have a K166XXX serial number. The action is very smooth and I can't wait to shoot it. It isn't a 4" model 15, but I'm over that[emoji3]

I am resisting going back for the beautiful 28-2.

I really feel like the peak of quality and desirability for the non-magnum K-frames hit from about the end of WW II to 1955. You hit the middle of it and got a very desirable K-38. As somebody has said, you may find yourself wanting to add a K-22 of similar vintage because they just "go so well together." The early K-32s are becoming somewhat like unicorns, but most folks seem to live perfectly happily without them... I'm not one of those folks, but I've been accused of being a little overly enthusiastic! Congratulations on a great find and I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Not too shabby!!

Hard to do better than that. Probably has an original target hammer, which is kinda scarce that early, they'd only been available a year or two by then.

Although it's a "K22 Masterpiece".
