Picked up my new to me 15-22 yesterday, I had to wait 15 days because it was used and the LGS has to hold for the sheriff's office to make sure it's not stolen. When I got it home, i decided to field strip it and check it out. Man, I wish my wife is as dirty as this poor gun was. I spent damn near an hour cleaning it. I have to get more accustomed to it and be confident enough to remove the trigger assembly. I picked up a bore snake and ran that throught twice. Break free on all moving parts and I am loving this gun.

The serial # is a DTZ49XX and has the blue springs. what is the trigger break on this out of the factory? I was looking at the yellow spring kits but, I don't think I want a 3# trigger with my 9 yr old shooting it. I was looking at maybe a 4 1/2# spring kit on Midway USA. Any comments would help, Thanks in advance.

Hahaha, enjoy your new gun!

Called S&W today, to have them send me a manual. I asked the customer service rep for the date of birth of my 15-22. My DTZ49XX was March 02, 2010. Just for anyone's interest.

Hey congrats on the new guns guys.

I've had mine for about a year and 3000 rounds with not one single problem.

Enjoy!

Oh I haven't removed my trigger I just spay some REM oil around it and wipe it down.
Yes they get as dirty as a ***** but are easy to clean.

Congrats. my friend:D once you get out to the range you will love this gun! As for your comment about the lighter springs, from personal experience the JP yellow springs cause to light of a hammer strike causing missfires, at least that was my experience with them so I reverted back to the orginal springs and have not had any miss fires since.

Congrats on your firearm! However, you might want to try it out for a little while before you begin messing with the trigger. A lot of people, including myself, like the one that came on there.

As already reported above, some guys have noticed a lot of "light strikes" on their ammo after modifying their bang switch! Just a consideration.....;) Good luck!

Thanks everyone, I was showing it off to some friends last night. I think they will be getting one soon. I just need to dress her up a little.

I hear ya on that one Ottojara, didn't take me long to start dressn mine up. :D Check it out.

A few things -

1. I believe the factory trigger pull is somewhere between 7-9 lbs, just like a standard AR15.

2. The trigger group is all standard AR15 parts, with the exception of the safety selector which is plastic. This means any AR15 trigger with small pin (.154") or any AR15 trigger parts (such as springs) will fit. Just pick out what you want and it should fit. Brett248Vista has a lot of great videos including takedown and installation of the trigger group.

3. I would NOT takedown the trigger group for cleaning. I would only remove the trigger assembly when replacing parts or if it got so dirty that it was malfunctioning (which I don't really think would happen if it is cleaned regularly). The reason for this is that the lower receiver is plastic, and excessive removal and reassembly of the trigger and hammer pins could wear down the holes, allowing those pins to "walk" around the lower. A fixable issue, but why not just avoid it in the first place?

4. Enjoy your rifle!

Hey just a little tid bit of info that may be helpful.

I don't know if you plan on putting on a forward grip, but I know Tapco has a nice one for the price. You can remove the bottom cap and insert the bipod that comes with depending where you buy it from. Pretty sweet if you ask me. I got one and it works wonders and I love it. Something to look into if you're intrested.
