I picked up my NIB 29-10 from my buddy. Blue gun. Very very nice. I am so tempted to fire this, but something inside me tells me not to !! I hate NIB guns !!!

Out of curiosity , I know I got a steal on this. But what would the resale of something like this be if I fired it vs leaving it NIB. I think thats whats affecting me mostly on wanting to shoot this.

I have a 57-1 41 mag possibly coming to me this monday ( I posted on that a few days ago ) and that has been fired. So maybe that one will be ok to play with a little. I am not a huge wheel gun guy. But I do like them.

The 29 I picked up to go with my pre 27 I have and the 57-1 I picked up just because. They are all 4" ( the 27 is a 3" ) , so they are all similar.

I just thought when most people think SW , they think .357 mag, or 44 mag. Hence the reason I picked these up.

I ll try and post a picture of it soon. But its a super nice gun ( 29 ) . I like the square butt on it. And the target trigger and hammer are cool too. I so want to shoot this, but its like the 40 year old virgin and his NIB toys. Once the seal is broken it loses its value ! LOL

Th 29-10 is the modern version of the 29 with the lock, so re-sale value is not going to be much affected if you shoot it or not. The gun is not really a collector's item like an older 29, so just shoot it. Take care of the blue finish and you will do more to keep any value in the gun. I've seen safe queen guns with bad finishes because the guns were not cared for and heavily-fired guns that look excellent because they were well cared for.

Also, the fact is that most used .44 magnums for sale have been shot very little -- the owners get them, have fun once or twice making a loud bang and ooh-ing and aah-ing at the power of the .44, and then they decide that it's either too uncomfortable or too expensive to shoot regularly, and they end up selling the guns. It is rare to see a .44 for sale that has been heavily used.

What SJshooter said. God made guns so we can shoot them. I have a nice Model 586 that I bought that was unfired. I took care of that!

Yeah your probably right. I preach to people all the time about shooting things as they are tools LOL. And here I am thinking the same thing. Maybe I ll go shoot this Bastard today !! LOL

Thanks
Todd
