A few weeks ago I posted pics of this 1973 Colt Cobra that I purchased on Gunbroker. It was modified to facilitate pocket carry, bobbed hammer, shortened grip, and a white sight insert that I could do without.

I took it to the range and found the grip to be horrible. Like most of my other old revolvers it needed a Tyler T-Grip. I ordered the proper T-Grip for an Agent, Cobra, Detective Special, etc...but it was too long because of the shortened grip. It extended approx. 1/3 inch below the frame:

So, I took a Dremel to it...the T-Grip, not the gun. I cut it to the proper size, deburred, and buffed it to replicate a factory finish. I touched up the exposed aluminum with some high temp black enamel applied with a toothpick. It looks like an unmodified T-Grip. It is one of the few things that I have "Dremeled" and not completely screwed up. Now it is ready for a place in the carry rotation. A few pictures:

I love that gun, especially the white front sight. But, it sounds like you are not particularly in love with it, yourself. I guess different strokes for different folks as they used to say somewhere in the dim past.

I tried to send you an email to offer to buy it, but you don't have the addy in your profile.

Oh well, you'd probably have broken my heart. But, if you decide to sell and don't go back to GB, my email is in my profile.

Hey Bob. I actually like the gun very much...just not the white front sight insert. Other than that, I think it is a fine piece of work. I'll keep you in mind if I ever decide to let it go.

Story of my life. When you are color blind like I am, that white front sight jumps out at you. Red could just as well be black for all the difference I see.

I use a hideous yellow fingernail polish that I bought years ago at K-Mart, where the lady was sure I was some kind of pervert.

Nice gun.

Good looking Colt! The grip frame looks the right length for the era...looks like shorter Agent type grip panels.

A fine looking carry gun indeed!

This is also a '73 Cobra...same length grip frame with longer wood.

I absolutely LOVE this pic, C&L!

So much that I bought a set of stocks just like yours for my 1974 Cobra. Mine are "Anniversary" stocks, with the gold/bronze "150" medallions, but a smooth walnut like the ones in your pic.

I know, I know...they're not era specific, but I don't care - I just love the way they look and feel!

I also have a polished bronze Tyler T-grip on order for it. I prefer the longer grip. It gives some much needed real estate for my pinky.

It haven't toted it much so far, (waiting on the T-grip) but I predict that my little pony will get carried an awful, awful lot very soon!

Cobras are fantastic carry pieces. Here's mine! In the summer it resides in my pants pocket in a Galco holster.
