Pigtail Temperature?

Does anyone know the light characteristics, of those pigtail light bulbs. Color temperature if it's available; I know these things are actually fluorescents, and I have no idea what color they give to photographs.

I did not know what to expect when I opened this but it wasn't a durn light bulb. :confused:
 
I dunnow about you guys...LOL. I'm talking about the color of the light put out by these light bulbs, and what it does to pictures taken with their light.
 
I was gonna say I like mine at about 160 after six hours on the smoker but, oh, never mind :rolleyes:
 
It depends on the bulb, the standard CFL's are in the range of 2700 K, however the Daylight ones seem to run "cold" and I'd guess they are around 6000 K.

Properly called "Helical Integrated CFL's." Known to all as the compact fluorescent.

The Compact Fluorescents are now available in bright white, cool white, warm white and day light as well as a host of colors. The only way to determine what works for you is a trip to the Home Depot or Lowes near you.
The first ones were bright white, sorta blue, and made everything look gray. Horrid, just horrid.

Be aware that they may not fit in some totally enclosed ceiling fixtures and you cannot use them on dimmer circuits, like you may have in your dining room.

Most of the ones I have were marked with degrees Kelvin right on the package so you can find daylight bulbs. I never tried them with print film but digital cameras white balance them very well

The OP was asking about the color "temperature", or wavelength range, of commercial compact fluorescent lamps, as described in "degrees Kelvin" in the scale devised by William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, the 19th century mathematician and physicist, whose name was lent to an American commercial product, the "Kelvinator" brand of refrigerators and, I think, other appliances.
