Nothing honestly....

(rant on)
The whole ruling is an absolute train wreck when you finally get thru the 250+ pages of crud.

As typical; they tried to cover all the bases with length and legalese but fail miserable. And the offer to register with no cost tax stamp is a joke. They can't process stuff now in a timely manor. Now add a couple million into the pipeline....

I'm just waiting for the emotion to settle down then see what happens.

I'm hoping that someone files an "American's With Disability Act" lawsuit. I would love to see them dance around with that for a while.

My last form 1 went through in less than 30 days. That was about a month ago. I don't expect that to remain true moving forward, however. I think the estimates for braced pistols are in the 30 million range.

I don't understand how the ATF can waive the $200 tax without congressional input and approval. The 1968 Amnesty went through congress.

Finally, if you want to Form 1 a braced pistol with your NFA Trust, you have to show proof that the NFA Trust owned the firearm as a braced pistol prior to January 13, 2023, but there is no such requirement as an individual.

I’ll be attending an ATF seminar this afternoon. Should be interesting. I’ll make my decision after. At the moment I don’t plan to do anything.

I was hoping you would get some insight from the boots on the ground, and not babble from the ivory tower.

are they actually serious and think they have the authority?

Are they prepared for millions of raids on known firearms owners?

They didn’t give any indication that they lacked authority nor did any of the 2A attorneys in the audience bring it up.

Yes
According to them there shouldn’t be any trouble processing the electronic forms.

Mil spec buffer tubes are legal, although they recommend pistol buffers. No need to destroy braces, just can’t have them readily available. Less of an issue if you have rifles that they’ll fit on.

One on one, my source expects a vigorous legal challenge. I sense that the rank and file are behind this and it’s politically driven.

I got my prints done and submitted the tax free eForm 1 Wednesday 1/18/23.

I'll mail my cover letter and prints off when I get up Thursday.

I figure...what's the worst that could happen?

I have 2 suppressors and 6 SBR's already. Some since 2011, and I've never had an ATF agent inquire about any of them. Much less show up at my door.

Some Sherriff's Depts. have already made public statements they will not help any federal agents in upholding, seek or arresting anybody violating this unconstitutional ruling, if it comes to pass.

Now until local police, state troopers, DEA, game wardens, the FBI, US Marshalls, the ATF, Secret Service, campus cops, and the rest of the departments that have arresting powers also say that, then I will take it as just posturing for their elected position. They know that if they do act they'll be out of office next term and they can safely sit on their hands and let the rest of the brigades that are bureaucratic in nature and hiring do the deed.

What I am not clear on is if there is ANY pattern of existing 'pistol + brace' that IS okay as it is? I remember watching some of the vids on that former Form 4999 idea, and it was indeed possible that certain toys could pass-muster in that regard.
