To start with I mostly carry Glocks but for ligh summer carry it's mostly a Shield. I have had the Shield for a few years and shoot it very well, I really like everything about it.
That has got me thinking about a new regularly carry pistol in the M&P line in the compact size, 9mm 3.5-4"barrel, 12 round minimum, and a full grip. I mostly carry IWB appendix so grip length isn't critical.
I know I can go to the S&W site but I would like Some input from people on here as to what to look at and what to stay away from.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The new 2.0sc is awesome! It carries almost as well as a Shield but fits me better and has more rounds. I'm not sure if I like it as much as the 2.0c yet, but I have been carrying the 2.0sc increasingly more... I mostly AIWB carry too, and both disappear under a t-shirt.

If you want a M&P the size of your g19 look at the m&p2.0 compact at up to 15 rounds depending on the states round count laws !! You have the option of a 3.6 or 4" and thumb safety or not . At least the compact will be a best buy in the mid 300 dollar range Handle a sub compact or the old 9m if you find one but if the shield is all that to you then the 2.0 sub compact may not be a worth while choice .

I've carried a "1.0" PC Shield 9mm for quite a few years now. I got it the month they came out. I love it. Easy to carry, very comfortable to hold, a dream to shoot. Years ago my EDC was a Glock 27 but I got tired of the thickness. I really notice the extra girth.

Last year I decided I wanted to switch up my carry options and got a 2.0 3.6 compact. It's a great gun. The only thing is I still don't care for the extra girth. So the 3.6 stays in the safe and doesn't really get any significant carry time. Oh well, just my preference.

Now for some reason, I find myself eying up the 2.0 subcompact even though I know I won't carry it much.

I have a 1.0 Shield 9 that was my carry gun till I bought a 2.0 Compact 9 with 4" barrel. I shoot the Compact better and really like how it feels in my hands. I prefer the thickness of a double stack grip over a single stack, and the texture of the 2.0 grip is perfect to me. The increased capacity is just a bonus, not really a big deal to me. I also carry AIWB and don't feel the Compact is any less comfortable to carry that way. In warmer weather if my T shirt is a real light one and I don't have a cover garment I sometimes go back to the Shield simply because it doesn't print as much.

Depending on your body type and AIWB concealment clothing, the thin Shield is about as good as many people can get for concealed carry.

However, if a thicker/longer grip is equally concealable, there are usually advantages to the larger gun—shootability and capacity. I think your quest is a good one.

I carry a full size 4.25" 9mm M&P with RMR about 90% of the time AIWB. The rest of the time I carry a 9mm RDS Shield. It's just a little more comfortable and conceals a little better under a lightweight cover. I do not shoot the Shield as well as my full size.

A compromise could be to buy two extended mag bases for the Shield. I carry with the 8+2 MagGuts extension that increases grip length from the OEM 8-round mag by just 1/4". That gives me 11 rounds on board with a backup 10-round mag. I feel confident with this capacity when I carry the smaller Shield. The MagGuts have been 100% reliable for me and are easy to load. It's expensive, but not the cost of another gun + accessories.

I've been carrying a Gen 1 Shield 9 for several years. I also have a Gen 1 9mm Compact w/3.6" barrel/12 round mag. Just picked up a new 2.0 Compact w/4" barrel/15 round mag. I only carry OWB, never liked IWB. They also make the 2.0 w/3.5" barrel. The 2.0 4" is the same size as a Glock 19, but the ergo's are much better on the 2.0 IMO.

Find what works for you, but IMO, any would fill the bill for you nicely! :-)
