I really love pizza.............
Back in the 60's in the bay area near San Rafael there was one place named "Pinky's" that had die for pizza.
When I moved to Reno my favorite pizza parlor was on 5th street, named Shakey's and my favorite was the Ed's special combo with anchovies to help the pitcher of draft down.

Today it is gone and my top pizza comes from the round table but they are getting a little high on their prices but still a good pizza.
Papa Murphy's are not bad for a take home and cook with the Tue. 2 for $20 large getting the nod. Tried the Mediterranean tomato for the heck of it and the wife went ga ga..........
Domino's had a good deal for a combo as well as Little Ceasar for a plain pizza for $5 ready at any time.

Nevada "Ain't" NY City with custom pizza places so we just learn to try and find good places, while they stay in business.

Just wondering with all the "TOP" football games now.........
what do you order ?

I make my own at home. Best i've had.
Take a double Chef boy RD kit.
Make up your dough to let it sit and rise.
I add my own sauce and some Pepperoni and some ground beef.
Then cover it generously with shredded Mozzarella.
In 20 minutes i have a Pizza just the way i like it.
Fat and full of Meat and cheese.

My wife is in the kitchen making a calzone this very minute!
Around here we get Papa Murphys, Little Ceasar, or Costco Deli most often, though there's a local place called Pizza Rita.
None of them are as good as what my wife makes though.

Pizza is a perfect food; a well-constructed one includes all the food groups, including the two most important one, salt and grease, essential for the maintenance of weight and blood pressure.

Around here, I usually get Carbone's, a local chain. The other really good one is Red's Savoy, an East Side establishment that makes a pretty good margarita as well. There are some yuppie joints over on the west side of town (Minneapolis) that are pretty good, but my side of town is more blue collar, more sausage, pepperoni and olives and not so much in the way of spinach and artichokes and goat cheese.

When I was a cute little kid, there was a joint called the John R. Garden, that claimed to have the first pizza oven in Detroit, (their claim, not mine. Don't want to get into a wetting match with anyone). My first memories were round, thin, big bubbly crust. In the, (many), years since, have gone thru the thick square, Chicago stuffed, and novelty toppings. Find that I've circled right back to thin crust round. Trouble is finding a joint that gets it right. Still looking. If any of you out there know of one in the metro Detroit area, please let me know.

There is a local place called Pizza Pro which has being making fresh not frozen Pizza for a long time. They have branched out into gas stations and such which is not the same thing since the ovens are different. I can always taste frozen dough and ingredients from Pizza Hut and Dominos.

That is really were I can not stand ingredients of any sort being frozen going into my pizza. Freshness and real ingredients is what makes good Pizza.

The best pizza place here that I know of is Angelo's on Madison in Lakewood. They're always crowded and there's always a wait.

The Donato's chain was ok, but at least the one in my town started going downhill until it closed.

Roman Fountain here is decent.

I haven't eaten at Pizza Hut in years. The best I can say is that it doesn't make me sick

Domino's? I'd sooner eat roadkill. About twelve years ago, I had two Domino's pizzas in a row and got the runs both times. I haven't eaten a Domino's pizza since and and have no plans to EVER do so in the future.

MAKE pizza, MYSELF? I'd get better results trying to build my own hydrogen bomb, and fewer lives would probably be lost.

We have one pizza place in town. It happens to be a Pizza Hut and they have good pizzas. One of my favorites is the Roadrunner. Has Hatch chiles on it. Not sure if that's just a New Mexico thing or not. On one occasion, mine had jalapenos on it, just wasn't the same!

We only have one chain pizza place here Domino's, I tried it once about 10 years ago, it was like eating cardboard, we have several mom & pop's that are good.

I love pizza. I love thin crust. I like almost any of it. The best around here come from Italian restaurants, but the Domino's in my town has always been a good one. It's always consistant, and good. I like making my own, too. From Margarita to Supremes, I like it all. I stay away from the frozen ones in the store.

NV Ed: You bring back good memories for me. I went to UNR from 1957 to Mid 1962. With the high concentration of Italians in Reno there were several really good pizza restaurants. The places near UNR were el cheapo places, but if one had transportation and could go South on Virginia St. There were two places that had "to die for" NYC and Chicago style pizza. It was a Sunday afternoon 'happening' for us to meet in one of those places for pizza and beer. I'm sorry I can't remember the names. But, about 5 years ago I attended a Gun Show in the City Convention Center in the South of town and heard the 'buzz' about a pizza place just off the highway up to Virginia City. I and a couple of friends went one night and it was very very good. ............

Here in little old Payson, Utah if you want a really good pizza you go to Fat Jacks. Beyond that we have Little Ceasar's, Dominos and Papa Murphy's. We pickup pizza from time to time and most often we buy a "love at 425 degrees" thin crust pizza from Papa Murphy's to cook out on the pellet grill.

"Virginia City".......
That's sort of like....."NY City" ?? (kidding)

I will have to look that one up..........thanks.
Tried a Greek Pizza place out a few months ago.........yuck.

Mom & Pops placed don't advertise.....
There is a new one just three blocks away I will try, just seeing if they don't have any bad things happen in the first two months before I eat their food. (if you get my drift)

Later.

Made a mistake moving to Vegas when it comes to pizza. Vegas seems to be the capitol of nondescript pizza. Years ago, a food column in the paper listed folks' favorite "NY style pizzerias" in the valley. One was the nondescript place I had patronized in my neighborhood... And I refuse to travel miles for something as ordinary as pizza.

Best pizza I found was prepared in a Fresh and Easy market on Silverado by a gal who claimed she made pizzas for her family back East. All "Fresh and Easy" stores here closed recently. Figures...

The buffet at Sunset Station casino prepares wonderful pizza. I only eat plain cheese, but I gotta believe the pizzas with toppings are also good. Heartily recommend!

I like making my own (every 2 weeks or so). I make enough dough for 2 pizzas and will usually make a white and a red. At least one will always be a veggie for my wife. I have totally mastered the Buffalo Chicken Wing pizza;). If the boys are home that's a definite. Homemade, home grown and fresh rule the day!

Old picture, but this is my last fall's "root veggie" pie with my 6" M27-2.

The only place for pizza, deep dish or thin crust, is Chicago and it's suburbs. Although I must say that "The Crust" in Naples, FL is really good too.

Pizza????

I'm NO longer a pizza fan. Not a fan of garlic! Now all the big chain pizza places use garlic butter or powder on the crust. If I want a pizza I want a good ole fashion pizza. Not with cheese in the crust, not smothered with artificial garlic powder. I won't eat Pizza Hut, CiCi's, I hate Dominos! PaPa Johns Pizza.

Our kids burnt me out in the 90's with pizza. They would not eat lunch at high school and take and combine Thier lunch money and order PaPa Johns Pizza while doing their homework, most of the time, with other kids they invited over to do homework. And depending on how many kids were there, I've seen them order 5-6 pizzas! :pI got to were I couldn't stand the smell! Same time, same driver, SAME smell EVERY DAY!!!!

I'll Pass!!!!
