We only have one chain pizza place here Domino's, I tried it once about 10 years ago, it was like eating cardboard, we have several mom & pop's that are good.

Its the same here but add pizza hut to the equasion. The last Dominos pizza I ate was in 1993, and I got food poisoning from it for a week. It was like eating plywood, cardboard was already being used by pizza hut. The best chain store pizza here, was Godfathers, sadly none no longer in the area. Little Caesars is good now that they will drizzle some olive oil on it if requested? Papa Johns is good as well.

I'm NO longer a pizza fan. Not a fan of garlic! Now all the big chain pizza places use garlic butter or powder on the crust. If I want a pizza I want a good ole fashion pizza. Not with cheese in the crust, not smothered with artificial garlic powder. I won't eat Pizza Hut, CiCi's, I hate Dominos! PaPa Johns Pizza.

Our kids burnt me out in the 90's with pizza. They would not eat lunch at high school and take and combine Thier lunch money and order PaPa Johns Pizza while doing their homework, most of the time, with other kids they invited over to do homework. And depending on how many kids were there, I've seen them order 5-6 pizzas! :pI got to were I couldn't stand the smell! Same time, same driver, SAME smell EVERY DAY!!!!

I'll Pass!!!!

Yer in the wrong thread buddy. Tell us how you REALLY feel?:D

I like making my own (every 2 weeks or so). I make enough dough for 2 pizzas and will usually make a white and a red. At least one will always be a veggie for my wife. I have totally mastered the Buffalo Chicken Wing pizza;). If the boys are home that's a definite. Homemade, home grown and fresh rule the day!

Old picture, but this is my last fall's "root veggie" pie with my 6" M27-2.

Better to make your own 27-2s and send out for the pizza! :D

The best pizza I've ever had came from a little place in Manhattan, Kansas. We ate there when I was at Ft. Riley for ROTC Advanced Camp. "Deep dish" just didn't do it justice. It was like a wedding cake made of pizza. Everybody who had it was amazed. I love the Pizzaria Uno deep dish that I've had in Chicago (and here until they closed), but this was on an entirely different level.

The next year, a friend of ours drove to Fulton, Missouri from Ft. Riley to visit us at Westminster College, from which he'd graduated. While he was there, he lost his BOQ keys. We found them after he'd gotten back. People who'd had that pizza literally fought over the privilege of driving to Kansas to return the keys so that they could get some while they were there.

This was in 1980. I've long since forgotten the name of the place and have no idea if they're still in business.

There were two places here in San Jose that had great pizza. The owners were both from Italy. Eventually they retired. One place was sold, and the new owners made pizza to the old recipe. Then they cheapened the recipe to make more profit. They went out of business soon after. Now I just either go to Round Table or make my own if I have the time.

I do not eat Dominos. The owner is anti-gun. I refuse to put my money in the pocket of someone who wants to take my guns.

The best pizza place here that I know of is Angelo's on Madison in Lakewood. They're always crowded and there's always a wait.

The Donato's chain was ok, but at least the one in my town started going downhill until it closed.

Roman Fountain here is decent.

I haven't eaten at Pizza Hut in years. The best I can say is that it doesn't make me sick

Domino's? I'd sooner eat roadkill. About twelve years ago, I had two Domino's pizzas in a row and got the runs both times. I haven't eaten a Domino's pizza since and and have no plans to EVER do so in the future.

MAKE pizza, MYSELF? I'd get better results trying to build my own hydrogen bomb, and fewer lives would probably be lost.

When I lived in Lakewood we went to Rocky River or Fairview park to a Local place in an A Frame building near a small shopping center. Cold beer and excellent pizza. In Homewood Alabama there was a place called DiVinci's. They were the best I have eaten. This was all in the 70' and 80's

Remember the street it was on?

There's one on the southwest corner of Center Ridge and Wagar, next door to Chipotle and across the street from Westgate Mall (now outdoor shopping center). I don't know how long they've been there.

There's also a place called "The Woods" across the street from the strip mall where Giant Eagle is, just west of there. I don't know if they serve pizza. It wouldn't surprise me.

I just checked, and apparently at one time it was "Dominic’s Pizza". They still serve pizza there.

I NEVER eat pizza that I haven't made myself, from scratch including the tomatoes that are home grown with seeds from Italy. Imported cheese, olive oil from Italy. I don't grow the wheat though.
I figure if I'm going to put that many carbs and that much fat into me, it better be the best there is.

REMBER YOU ASKED

All the homemade pizzas in this thread are making me hungry.

Other than homemade, my go to was Matthew's Pizza, on Eastern Ave in Southeast Baltimore. My wife is from Long Island, so hers was Rosa's in Huntington Station.

Oh my goodness!

Any good, decent tasting pizza is ok. But each area of our country is different. Make your own is good. My people from the old world, Naples were known for there excellent cooks as well as other areas. My mom would put a little tomato sauce on the pizza dough and bake that first. Once the crust and sauce is slightly cooked, nmore sauce is added and slices of mozzarella is added. Then cooked sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers what ever you desire.

I enjoy peets a veet, it's fried pizza dough. You find this at some country fairs. Add butter only, sausage, meatball, or just cheese. Don't forget the crushed red hot pepper. Enjoy.
