Pizza...

Had a pizza locally tonight and brought it over to some friends house...

Large Veggy Special with no olives (too salty) with Italian Sausage and extra cheese over the top...think it was $26.00...EXCELLENT...

Could hardly see the crust from all the toppings...

When I was stationed at Webb AFB, Big Spring, TX. I got a part time job at a new Pizza Hut in town. We made good pizzas, and myself and another employee would toss the dough to each other to the delight of the customers.
We were allowed to take any ordered pizzas that didn't get picked up, and that happened frequently. We also served draft beer, so after work I would take a gallon jar, fill it with beer, and along with a pizza, I would get a few guys from the barracks and we would go out to the golf course, eat the pizza and drink the beer.
The owner of the Pizza Hut wanted to make me the manager, but I couldn't do it due to my work schedule on Base.

Now, we like Marco's Pizza a lot. We order a large with double cheese, double sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. It's very good. Unfortunately where we now live there is no Marco's close by, so we have to go back to our former City to get one.
There are several pizza joints near where we live, but so far we haven't found one we like.

Quoted from Funflyer: "About 3 minutes in the oven and it was delirious."

Well, that intense heat would make most anything sick. ;)

Just ribbing you a bit, my friend; I can tell from the pictures it was delicious.

Regards,
Andy

P.S. Wish mine looked and tasted that good!

While I love New York style pizza (used to work a pizzeria outside Philly while in HS), here's one that's easy on the waistline and wallet AND IS DELICIOUS:

10in flour tortilla
Marinara sauce
Hormel "BOLD" pepperoni (take the annoying casing off the slices!)
Mild Italian sausage (brown before using on pizza)
1/3 part mild cheddar - 2/3 part mozzarella cheeses
Italian seasoning

"BAKE" in heavy frypan on med-high flame gas stove for ~10mins, while covered with dinner plate or foil, until bubbly and GREASY.

Slice and Enjoy.

It took close to a week to get discharged from active duty (US Navy) in 1973,,
This was in Philadelphia,,

Anyways, me and one other guy decided to go out for lunch,, and have pizza.

We picked a place that looked local and good,
we went in, and the price seemed a little high, but, we were splurging, as this was our last days of active duty,,

We ordered a whole sausage and pepperoni pizza,,
The guy at the counter said "YOU WANT A WHOLE PIZZA!!??"
We said yes,, (we thought we were big eaters!!)

We sat at the booth, the table at the booth was about 36" wide,,

Soon, the guy brought the "pizza",,
It was square, and hung off the edge of the booth table, on both sides,,!!

It must have been about 38 to 40 inches square.

I guess they normally sold just a "slice"

We had a good laugh,, ate what we could, which happened to be much of the entire pizza,, (we were both in our mid 20's)

That was one of my many memorable Navy experiences!!

This was around the early 80s when were living near Fort Worth. One of the Pizza places on Camp Bowie Blvd decided they wanted to get into the Guiness Book of Records by making the world’s largest pizza. So they built some improvised Pizza oven in their parking lot. I don’t know how big it was, but big, maybe 10 feet or more. Anyway they proceeded to make and bake a Pizza, but the city health department showed up and would not allow it to be sold to customers. I don’t remember on what grounds. So they had to throw the whole thing away. I don’t know if it ever set any records, but it must have cost them a bundle for all of the wasted ingredients. I didn’t personally see the Pizza, but I did see that makeshift oven in the parking lot before they dismantled it as it was there for several days.

I did a search to see if I could find any old news stories but I couldn’t find anything.

Now yours is a great looking pizza. Makes me remember days back when, In Green Bay after the bars closed, we would stop at a small pizza place run by Al. "Al we'll have one and drag it through the garden"

Made a Mexican pizza last night. Used a new garlic, onion and cheese dough recipe that I've been working on perfecting. This one was loaded with refried beans, seasoned taco meat, green chilis, jalapenos, black olives, tomatoes and several different cheeses. Weighed about six pounds. Wow was it good.
