I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I am having a malfunction with my Walther PK 380.

Here's the problem:
While shooting, it will fire a couple of rounds, chamber the next, I'll squeeze the trigger again and it does nothing.

The first few times it happened, I ejected the round and inspected it. It appears that the firing pin did not come in contact with the primer.

I can pull the trigger again in double action and it will fire. It will typically eject the spent round and continue firing like normal, 1 time it did not eject the round.

Anyone have any ideas on what this is?

Is this something I should send back to walther/Smith&Wesson or just take to a gun smith?

Factory or reloads? I hope you meant PPK!

Regardless if factory or handloads, blowback guns in particular are subject to incomplete chambering if the bullets are slightly over sized, or the cartridge is over length. If the slide is held even a few thousandths of an inch from fully closing the hammer can strike the slide without touching the firing pin. This can move the slide enough that the firing pin will be struck properly the second time.

Pull the slide off the gun and use the chamber as a case gauge. If the ammunition drops cleanly into the chamber, and then falls out freely when the barrel is turned muzzle up everything should be fine. If the ammunition sticks either way you have found the problem.

Are you loading the magazine and letting the gun function normally, or single loading and letting the slide down gently instead of letting it close with full force of the recoil spring pushing it? If so, and your post sounds like this is what you are doing, let the gun do its' job normally and let's see what happens.

If you still have a problem we would need a bit more information to even venture a guess.

Nope, it's a PK 380

I thought it might have been the rounds so I tried 3 different brands; Winchester, Remington and blazer. They all produced the same symptoms.

It happens during normal operations. I load a full magazine into the gun, pull back the slide and release it as normal letting the slide chamber the round. It has never happened on the first round, usually happens in the middle of the magazine. I've also tried two different magazines.

What kind of information do you need? I would be happy to supply whatever info I can to get this figured out.

Sorry, didn't even consider it was one of those. Under the circumstances I would call S&W on Monday for a warrantee "Call Tag". May have to do with the firing pin block. Let them fix it!

Thanks for your help! I was intending on sending it, but wanted to see if it was a known issue with the pk 380.
