I am so looking to move out of NYS and live in a gun friendly state like PA. It would still be a less than 2 hour commute to JFK Airport.

Any thoughts where in Bucks County?

Look in carbon county easy access to i80 school taxes cheaper then bucks

My taxes are a 1/3 of what they would be in buck on similar house

Look around the Jim Thorpe area schools are good
Lot of game lands

Well , do you want Upper Bucks or Lower Bucks?

Upper Bucks still has some nice wide open spaces, up around Lake Nockamixon outside Quakertown. There's a big state park and used to be lots of good hunting land. But it's getting crowded quick. Main artery Rt.309 outta Philly brings some riff-raff. There was just a deadly home invasion in normally peaceful and quiet Hilltown.

There's a few small regional airports in upper Bucks too. One right next to my gun club!

Lower Bucks around Bristol is getting pretty much indistinguishable from Philly.

Dear God! Bucks County? STAY AWAY! Haven't you seem any M. Night Shyamalan movies?!?!

Just joking. Off track, but I got to visit the field and house from "Signs" when I visited a former girlfriend at Delaware Valley College. They built it in one of the fields on campus. Pretty cool!

Thoughts on Stroudsborg PA

I've got some property up in that area. Stroudsburg is getting bad too. It's the county seat so that's where all the 'social services' (and of course , poor , oppressed , down-trodden and ever-multiplying minorities) are. Been quite a few carjackings and armed robberies at Stroud Mall lately.
E Stroudsburg is a college town so ya got lots of drunken college kids running amuck. But lots of more liberal NYers and North Jerseyites are moving in the surrounding areas. And bringing NY with them!

Some called the cops and complained last time some friends and I were shooting on MY property. Since the Pocono Regional PD told them that I was within my rights , they called the PA State Police.

I would echo the comments of mkk41... I live in the Lehigh Valley, it seems to be a popular choice for folks moving from NJ and NY in recent years. I have close access to I78 and the 476 turnpike which make Philadelphia an hour away and NYC about 1.5 to 2 hours away.

Upper Bucks is a fine area with lots of open country but higher cost of living, and as mentioned lower Bucks in getting to be Philadelphia. Points North and a little west of the Lehigh Valley may be a good bet given cost of real estate, taxes and availability of land and the general lifestyle.
