Please help date Model 15-5

Bought a pretty well used Model 15-5 at Gander Mountain yesterday, finally found a way to get it at a more reasonable price than they had it tagged. Ser. # is AYB97XX. Would appreciate help on the date of mfg.

Since it is a 15-5 I figured it should be posted in this section. Haven't found my camera yet, so no pics to post yet Been trying to find a decent 15 for a while but the online auctions go for more than I could spend. Got this one (with goodyears) for $364.99 + tax ($390.54 OTD). Really wanted one in nicer condition, but this one will clean up some and should be a nice shooter

A good guess would be the summer of 1987. Forum member Kernel Crittenden is the local expert and may be along to narrow down the month.

There are a few ex-LE later model 15s on the market recently, probably a large trade-in group from an agency deciding they don't need 30 year old revolvers in their inventory any more . Enjoy!
